Got a bobtail 300tdi discovery, got the fuel tank in the boot and would like to know if to run the fuel lines through the cab or under the body?
Also renewing fuel lines, what diameter pipe do i need and whats best fuel pipe to buy?

I would go for under body for safety and potential mess
Nylon air brake pipe is what you want, Iirc 10mm outside dia for the feed and 8mm for the return, but do measure first.
Most people fit rubber for ease but its dear and will end up splitting/leaking at some time in the future.

If routing through the cab you will need to use hard wall pipes (copper, etc.) for safety.
Either that or sleeve over a pipe.
Each bulkhead entry and exit should be sealed too.
These were the RAC MSA requirements many years back.

Is this type of pipe suitable for diesel? Dont want it only to last so long then have to replace it again. just trying to do it properly first time as its a stripped body and chassis at the minute

Its what land rover used from new and trucks still use nowadays, hence I aquired! some and used on my tdi conversion about 7/8 yrs ago and its still good.

People struggle getting it over the hose tails, the secret is put the fitting in the vice, spit on the tail/fitting and slowyly force the pipe on with a little wiggle action!

So what are the inner diameters do i require? thank you

Thank you fella
Your welcome.
You can use standard off the shelf 8 and 10mm plumbing compression fittings on the nylon tube too (I have).
You could use nylon from the tank change to copper through the cab then back to nylon to the engine. Tank connectors (Google them) can be used to give a seal to the tube inside. You would have to drill out the stop in the tank connectors but that's easy cos it's only brass.

I think the easiest way would be to keep them underneath and just renew the lines.
Main thing to sort is another wiring loom for the dash as this one had been messed about with

Another thing- get the clear (actually opaque) pipe, you can see the fuel through it, helps with fuel issues ie air ingress problems.

Its got clear fuel pipe on atm, all they have done though on tank side is cut the normal black pipe and shove it over the top and jubilee it

That's no good.
You can use compression fittings on what's left of the original black pipe and extend it with the opaque nylon. You are supposed to use inserts if using compression fittings on the nylon, I didn't and no leaks or nowt in 16 yrs.

Problem with jub clips is they dont actaully seal that well (due to the bulky threaded part of the jub clip) on small diameter section pipe/hose especially if the pipe is rigid ie nylon etc.

You can get them nice small hose clips which work well, this kind of thing, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-Min...hash=item1f09b9f421:m:myNsYsLZl4NaNAUXZTl_r2A

Have you got any pictures or links of the connectors your talking about?

Always found with push fits if used on derv the slightest imperfection pulls in air, also best to use tube supports on nylon pipe if using compression fittings expecially as the pipe suggested is only 1mm wall thickness.

Tbh you cannot beat simply doing as the factory did/does.

How come you have to use tube supports?
