    Scott's Series 2A

Got my panel lights working today, the last of the wiring gremlins as the switch had been recommissioned for something else. Removed an LED lit ciggy lighter and some related wiring too so all that's behind the centre dash now looks original and is neat and tidy. I had a brief short circuit...

    Fairey overdrive drain plug

Right, I'm back to this now.. :) I've never used a helicoil before. When I buy a recoil kit, like this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/9-16-x12-UNC-V-Coil-Germany-Fits-Helicoil-Wire-Thread-Repair-Insert-Kit/273820176793?hash=item3fc0f45199:g:ugsAAOSwhspb-b8P - is 9/16 UNC in this case the size...

    My tailgate looks different

That is how it looks flat. I can't imagine why though. I thought I'd post photos in case someone could come along and say oh that's off a such and such..

    My tailgate looks different

I bought my 2A two years ago and curiosity has finally got the better of me so it's time to ask "why is my tailgate different?" :) It's got a light green shade of paint under the top(most) coat not found elsewhere on the vehicle so it's come off something else.. But has someone gone to great...

    Scott's Series 2A

Good to know I'm not the only one. I too am going to be more careful about testing primer and paint combinations now. I think I'll do the same as you and touch it up with some CIO as I go.

    Scott's Series 2A

Rear crossmember's painted black but I don't think much of the durability. When I put the plastic cover on the tow hook it scraped some black away to reveal the undercoat! It's Frost's Extreme Chassis Black over a Tractol Red Oxide undercoat spray. I haven't had problems with the Frost paint...

It's been a joy following this thread. Amazing result. Very smart. Well done.

    Scott's Series 2A

've fit the new solenoid and wiper blades. Yesterday I tried to dismantle the water pump to start the rebuild but the casting broke. Man up the road at the workshop said he's done loads over the years for combines and tractors and if they don't break taking them apart they often still leak when...

Should Series light circuits be ignition switched?

Cheers all. It's good to know mine's not the only one with side lights that work with the ignition off. I'll leave it as is since I've got bigger jobs on the todo list. :D

    Beginner Electrical Questions

Yes it is! Next jobs are front crank seal, water pump, and that panel lights switch to re-wire.. plus whatever welding I can fit in while the weather's good for it on the driveway!

Should Series light circuits be ignition switched?

The side lights on my 2A work with the ignition off. I can't remember if this was definitely the case before I started tidying up some wiring behind the dash... :) The wiring diagram shows the side lights on the other side of the ignition switch, which makes me think the ignition should be on...

    Beginner Electrical Questions

Thanks for all the help. I finally got the new wiper motor in, the earth at the wiper socket re-crimped after it broke, and a wiper switch that connects the right wires for auto-park and always on - and my wipers now work so thanks! :)

    Scott's Series 2A

My brother stopped by for a cuppa today and the landy was out when he arrived so we got some little jobs done. First time I've worked on a landy with him since we were young un's and messing about on Dad's. :) - Put the new pedal pad on the accelerator (I'd done the brake and clutch for forgot...

    removing the starter dog

My biggest adjustable won't open that wide. It might be 1 11/16", I measured it about 42mm so figured 43mm would be safe. Have you done it before with a big adjustable? How did you brace the crank from turning?

    removing the starter dog

I want to remove the starter dog and front pulley on my 2A so I can replace the front crank seal and mud shield. I bought a 41mm socket as I'd seen someone use on on a S3 but it's too small, I need a 43mm - and these look to be expensive. Any proven methods to do this without a 43mm socket?

WANTED - Series outer seat base, deluxe vinyl

I need one more Series outer seat base. Black deluxe vinyl style. I have the 5 other seat parts, all originals with 8 ribs. The newer ones have 9, I'm looking for an older one with 8. Condition should be and look used but ideally not falling apart. :)

    Scott's Series 2A

While I'm here, see the smaller outlet to the left of the thermostat housing? I think that goes off to a heater if there's one fitted am I right? Mine has a long old bodgey blanking hose that secures over that, is there something neater I could get that would be tidier?

    Scott's Series 2A

I've started too many jobs lately and really need to finish them before starting anything else. :D I've pulled out some old wiring I don't want or need and can do better later on; relays and long cable strung along the side of the chassis, glad to be shot of it, all for one work light and some...
