Series 1 to Series 2 - Will the same tow bar fit both ???

series 2 disco has a longer boot and rear overhang than disco 1... Does this relate to the chassis too??? I dont know, but if it does, the relation between the chassis mounting points and the crossmember mount may well be different???

Disco 1 dog guard - strong enough to keep my toolbox in the boot if I crash?

I got a dog guard and a real heavy toolbox in the boot of my 300 (big ammo box with Trifor and recovery kit and spares), I used the mounting points off the 'removed' dickie seats both upper and lower mounts and bolted some transit D rings in there, I use a ratchet strap to hold it into the side...

    Ok then oil experts!

So I got loads of bottles of engine oil, you know 'with a bit left over', which over the years have accumilated in my shed. If I poured them all into one bottle so it were a mixture of all different grades but new engine oil, mineral, full synth, semi, petrol, diesel etc... what's stopping me...

Your engine should still fire up, the turbo wont even come into play until the throttle gets opened. However, sort out the timing before anything else!

    TDI/unleaded question

surely it depends on how long you want it kicking around, a pint of the stuff on every fillup will do no harm

Discovery 2, Changing the door lock actuators

yes Andy, there is adjustment there, but once you get to the frame lifted bit, you can withdraw the whole frame up out of the door, you could extract the frame and persuade it back into shape!

Discovery 2, Changing the door lock actuators

Unlike the Disco 1, with the D2 you cannot just change the springs for pocket money. You need to shell out £70 odd quid a side for a whole door lock mechanisim to replace them! I lived with the drivers door not unlocking with the fob for a year or so, but when the passenger door gave up that...
