    Oh Dear!! What to do?

OK - so here is an update - I don't know whether it's good news or bad - whether I've been lucky or unlucky - whether I've been treated poorly or fairly by the insurer - but I need a plan going forward. My Landy has now been officially written off - structurally - but when I get under (I now...

    Oh Dear!! What to do?

Thanks all - really useful stuff. The email from the insurance company suggested a very automated process - you will get a check in 5 days - cash it anyway even if negotiations change things - treat as down payment etc. - I've told them to stop everything until I have all of the facts including...

    Oh Dear!! What to do?

Thanks both - agree entirely - Hind sights a great thing - looking like I could get it back and have a budget of 7K ish to get it put back to rights. Only thing is …… will my Landy have the rest of its life dogged by a CAT D or Cat C (or whatever) badge ? Will it be insurable? If I did a chassis...

    Oh Dear!! What to do?

Just before Christmas, on the 1st icy day I put my lovely 2002 TD5 90 into a ditch at the side of the road. All very slow - no more than 20mph - but the stop was abrupt. After having it for 4 1/2 months the insurer / garage have now decided that it is not economical to repair it. The damage...

    Considering converting S1 to TDI?

Play this to your advantage and pick up a Series 1 V8 auto like the one below for buttons and sell your pure resto project to cover costs (and some probably) https://forsale.lro.com/land+rover/series+1/295815

    TD5 Geniune rev counter installation..

Rev counters seem expensive but I'd like one - is there a cheap source anywhere? (TD5 90 2002)

    Bodywork Help!

From my experience, the crash repair companies that insurance companies align themselves with are not used to dealing with Landys. Better getting to the guy up the road who fixes the farmer's tractors - better all round understanding of what's really required and quicker parts supply. Why did...

    Some basic electrical help?

Another voltage sensing relay which I used for electrically heated seats is the IGNSENS from mobilecentre - only £11 - not bad. https://www.mobilecentre.co.uk/automatic-vsr-voltage-sensing-acr-split-charging-relay-12v-2-x-20a-outputs-ignition-live-generating-module-ignsens

Defender TD5 Kangarooing / Acceleration problems

Pity - did you check the crank position sensor as someone else suggested? My plug came loose once and that does bugger things up.

Defender TD5 Kangarooing / Acceleration problems

I had EXACTLY this when I bought mine. Did lots of stuff looking at the sensors and for oil in the wiring loom but what it turned out to be was …….. the fuel filter needed changing! Really cheap to do and whilst you are about it, it is a good time to put a dose of engine cleaner through. Sweet...

Defender 90 TD5 rear Fuel tank guard options

For my TD5 90 2002 Getting the fuel tank out from below was a nightmare. I think other posts suggests that assembly is done from above so it's not meant to go that way - getting the guard out from below requires big hammers and crow bars and there is so little space to manoeuvre it out that...

    TD5 starting issue

Take a look at this video from 'Vehicle Repair Toolbox'. Looks like there is some basic diagnostics that can be done before start splashing more cash. I have a 2002 TD5 90 - no nice fuel pump access point as shown in the video - previous owner had neatly cut a hole in the floor and riveted the...

going to Spain - need an air-conditioner for my 90

That's the badger - between that and the front vent flaps a great landy-like low energy dependable solution https://x2o9nr2cn82gy9zm-zippykid.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/jug906y-09.jpg

going to Spain - need an air-conditioner for my 90

Didn't they used to fit a second skin on the roof with an air gap on desert landys to keep the heat off? Idea being that the sun heats the roof skin but air flowing over and under it stops the heat going into the vehicle itself - can't for the life of me remember what it was called but my...

    Replacement rear door

My 2002 TD5 90 has rear window glass with the round bottom corners - my friend's x reg TD5 110 has that square corners rear glass given in LINK2. BTW - if anyone wants a brand new heated rear glass and high level light and square corners like the one in LINK2 I have one going spare (ordered the...

    Heated seats

I fitted the carbon ones along with the OEM wiring loom and single switch to fit my 2002 TD5 consul surround. Very 'Landrovery' result - you can fry an egg on them very quickly!

    My roof leaks!

Mine did this - I followed the advice of that nice Ozzy Youtuber and it sorted the problem once and for all. Strange job - filling where there don't seem to be any cracks but the right result comes from doing it. Mine was worst if I parked on a slight uphill in the rain suggesting it was getting...

    Wiring a courtesy light

Hi - I think you will have 2 wires because one will be for direct connection to always-on +ve (for when the switch is in the ON position), the other will be for providing power on the doors switches which go via a timer relay - these stay on for a bit longer and then switch off.
