My 98 D1 tailgate won't open. Lock still jumps with central locking. Pulling on the handle does nothing. Inserting the key, it spins freely and doesn't lock or unlock. How do I get the door open so I can replace mechanism. Thanks for any help.

Hi Norseman Mileage is 148k I'll check the fluid tomorrow morning. Only had the car a couple of months. Not a silly question, roll freely (under engine power?) Also noticed when driving along at 30mph the revs drop to 750rpm while on my D1 V8 the revs are around 1000rpm.

Guys, HELP!! My new 98 D2 V8 (spent 10 months on a driveway before I got it) is in for MOT but can't get it to pass the (2500RPM) high idle CO emissions level. Pushes out a bit of blue smoke but it goes away. Passes emissions at normal idle. Temps are in normal range, doesn't seem to use/leak...
