Cooling fans not working freelander td4

If it helps. I've got a TD4 auto that I used to tow the caravan with. In the 7 years we used it for towing duties I can count on one hand the amount of times the fans kicked in. I once went from Rotherham to St David's in Pembrokeshire, 300 odd miles and about 6 hours of pulling, guess what, no...

    Freelander problem

Cheers As @Nodge68 suggests, low pressure fuel supply. Read the thread as suggested. Also do you know the last time the low pressure fuel pump was replaced, they have a finite life span. Mike

    Freelander problem

Welcome. Help us to help you. Engine type Manual or automatic. Does it kick smoke out when the fault occurs, if yes what colour. Mike

Engine changed low rpm power loss

Although the engines are the same, it sounds like the replacement is from a pre facelift TD4. So, take the wiring etc off the duff one and stick it in the new one. They're are slight differences between 1999-2003 TD4 and 2004 onwards, as you've seen with the front pipes/ sensor. This could...

Freelander 1 Newbie fed up with garages ripping me off

Been looking after my Freelander over 10 years, and I haven't killed myself or the car yet, and it's an auto. Research, take your time, and shout for help before you break something. And Welcome:) Mike

Freelander 1 Do rear diffs rumble?

Ok, winter tyres make a hum but don't vibrate as such. No your rear diff shouldn't vibrate and they don't tend to. They whine, sometimes grate, sometimes they eat themselves! I would check the drive shafts and wheel bearings. Mike

Freelander 1 Do rear diffs rumble?

I was more interested in which ones. Certain tyres are made of alot harder compounds than others and therefore make more noise. Also if you run All season or M+S marked tyres, these will make the drive train rumble. If your running dedicated tarmac tyres and getting a rumble, that's more of a...

    Freelander 1 Are 2004 Td4's OBDII compliant.

2004 should be obdII compliant, unless you've ended up with a pre reg and an old computer, then you'll need a dedicated unit, icarsoft or similar. Mike

Freelander 1 HDC hazard light question that may have not been asked before

The G sensor is under the back of the center console, arm rest bit on 2002 models. It could be something to do with that, but I doubt it. Daft question, but does the HDC work even though the red lights on, it is a land rover after all. I would think it's more likely to be the abs computer...

TD4 Auto in-gear acceleration causes judder...?

He's not been on here since 2010. When an autobox does that, it usually means that it's recieving enough torque to hold the higher gear, but in actual fact it needs to be one gear lower. For example, if your pottering along in 5th at 1750rpm and encounter an incline but try and hold the revs...

Freelander 1 Part id (egr related)

If the egr solenoid is still in place the pipe will still pump exhaust into the engine bay if not sealed. This shouldn't cause a misfire, but won't help as you would get a sudden drop in back pressure. Some peeps notice a big difference with the delete, others not so much. Having a EGR fitted...

Freelander 1 Blower switch fell into centre console , please help

Never seen a heater dial do that before. Even though the dial panel won't come out the front, it can be pushed up and down in place by removing a couple more screws. But I would have thought the rest of the dial would just drop out the bottom. The plastic is fairly flexible at the base, so a...

Freelander 1 HDC hazard light question that may have not been asked before

Eerrmmmmm, you've lost me. Are you saying that your HDC light is flashing under normal driving conditions, when it's not turned on. Maybe I've eaten one to many jelly babies, but I can't quite work out what the actual fault is. Cheers Mike

    Freelander 1 Skinny Mike's TD4 ES Auto

Just been outside looking at it and pondering my next step. Looks like it's been attacked from above, moisture, and below, road salt. Looks worse on the photo than it actually is. The main tubes are intact, most of the flaky bits you can see is the underseal peeling off. The thin steel cradle is...

    Freelander 1 Skinny Mike's TD4 ES Auto

New pads installed (Delphi's) using copper grease as suggested. The old pads were well glazed, and they still had around 6mm of material left, but I couldn't put up with that noise. Also stuck a bottle of tyre goop in one wheel. I have to wait to see where they've installed my dodgy rim, this...

    Freelander 1 Skinny Mike's TD4 ES Auto

Brakes are coming off again tomorrow, the pads must have glazed when the caliper stuck on. They were ok at first, but then started squealing like a pig being prodded with a hot poker up the back side, to put it politely. After a couple of strip downs, cleaning new grease etc they're still doing...

    ENGINE MALFUCTION LIGHT!! AHHHHHHHHHH

Check the boost pressure sensor (MAP sensor) on the left of the inlet manifold as you look from the front. First sign of it giving up is a loss of power at high speed. Also, slow down you daft git. Mike

What have you done to your Freelander today

Replaced mine with Delphi's the other year. Still going strong and look in good condition. They've probably done around 4000 miles. Mike
