I know that the hazard light on the Freelander 1 is an ongoing problem , however mine problem hasn't been covered , if I park the car half on road and half on road the light goes off and it goes back to the green HDC light only when activated , then when I pull off hazard starts again , is this now a more obvious issue ? , thanks in advance

Eerrmmmmm, you've lost me.
Are you saying that your HDC light is flashing under normal driving conditions, when it's not turned on.
Maybe I've eaten one to many jelly babies, but I can't quite work out what the actual fault is.
Cheers
Mike

HDC flashing because he's not in first or reverse praps.

What colour is the lamp on the dash and what gear are you in when it flashes?

Did yer mean half on curb and half on road?

Ok , I've just read my original post , apologies , it doesnt make sense . ever since I've had the Freelander the Orange HDC hazard light has been on constantly, I've read all previous queries re this and checked wiring and relay, all ok , brake lights work fine . I've tried slackening throttle cable without any change . I noticed this week that if I park half on road and half on Kerb then the light goes out and the green symbol comes on when using the trigger as it should , however the second I pull of the kerb the Orange hazard light comes back on , are these specific symptoms pointing to something obvious ?

I would imagine that if the level of the car is important, it could be the gravity sensor - if you have one. Not all have them, I think the MY01+ cars with Teves ABS have them, the earlier Wabco cars don't.

The G sensor is under the back of the center console, arm rest bit on 2002 models. It could be something to do with that, but I doubt it.
Daft question, but does the HDC work even though the red lights on, it is a land rover after all.
I would think it's more likely to be the abs computer that's stuck on the side of the abs pump in the engine bay. But a code reader would give better information.
Mike

Yes, definitely get the codes read - sounds like the sort of problem you could be chasing for ages if you don't know what's bringing the light up.

Rather than drive it oft a curb to get it to fail... rock the bodywork from side to side with the engine ont tickover to see if that triggers the fault.

Shook car did nothing , could the brake switch fault mentioned in many posts just effect the HDC warning light ? Is there a way to check the switch ?

Ok ive just done over 200 miles and its not causing an issue , just one question , a lot of people have said to check the connections under the gearstick and to check the spade connectors. I cant see any connections under the gearstick apart from the plug that connects to the HDC trigger and some wires that go through the floor into a sensor attached to the exhaust , can someone point out the obvious for me please , thanks

They mean the connector to the HDC switch so you have already found it. You will have to get a multimeter and do a continuity test on the switch and get a code reader as that will tell you what the issue is

Im on holiday at moment and am having to park freelander on a very steep slope , it appears that everytime I drive off all is good with HDC light and function until I get abour 1/2 a mile on the flat , does this help explain the fault ?ive ordered a new brake switch so am hoping thats the issue.

My HDC light came on but has stayed off since the following day. I also have brake lights out and looking thru other threads the brake switch could be an issue. Waiting on one coming. Starting there and see where it leads me.

Ordered a switch myself , lets hope it solves the problem for both of us , looking forward to an update from you
