    on the level

Sand bags in the back of my MK 3 Spitfire. Transverse rear leaf spring was a nightmare and rear wheels tucked under with enthusiastic cornering

Here you go. Excellent work as usual by Dave. Apparently front bumper had been resprayed before even though main dealer had assured me it had never been in a crash. Alloys refurbished with new centres & the horribly faded plastic Rangerover badges removed front and back.

Its a long story but I had all kinds of issues with it when first picked it up even though it had supposedly been through JLR much hyped pre- sales check up. Rear wheel alignment so far out they had to drop rear subframe to correct it. A year later it failed MOT on tyres & turned out directional...

Previous owner was JLR. Ex- management pool car. 3 yrs old & only 7 k on clock when I bought it off a main dealer. Apparently it’s a known problem caused by sunlight!

    New exhaust time

Yes, I’ve seen a lot of stainless fabrication, as we used to manufacture our own equipment, but this stuff is quality.

    New exhaust time

A few years ago I replaced the standard exhaust on my 1992 110 200tdi with a stainless system from a well known supplier. All was well until it started rotting at the flange joints and I subsequently found the flanges were mild steel & not stainless. Through these forums I learnt of Demand...

Series 3 Brake fail - update

Check master cylinder & make sure seals haven’t perished. Happened to me with clutch master despite having a new cylinder. Seals were perished. Also you say you changed brake fluid. Was it new type rather than mineral? It could have damaged the seals

    Defender prices....

wish I’d kept my MK 3 spitty. Bought for £65 from local scrap yard. Did it up over a couple of years. Got stopped by police on M56. Body was maroon but had boot lid in primer, one blue door & a yellow bonnet. No hood & only one seat (as no passenger seat belt. They couldn’t believe it had an MOT...

Undercover covers in Birmingham. Slow to respond at times but top quality. Exmoor Trim tilt on my lightweight rotted after 3 years. Exmoor Trim seats in my Defender split after two years.

    Steering wobble

Check panhard rod bolts. One of mine worked loose and resulted in a serious wobble.

    L405 advice

I have a 2014 TDV8 4.4. Superb car. I love it but sadly, over last year, it’s been under used. Last longish trip was Cheshire to Somerset last month when I averaged 39 mpg!
