    Track rod ball joint separator

The Halfords one is fine btw. Taken off loads no problems. Pickle forks are a bit crap TBH. Working on suspension requires joints to be broken and put back all the time . Tighten with an impact driver or tighten then tap repeat.

    P38 broken in France. Help!

Hope it's just an alternator. If it's still running it can't be to bad.

range rover p38 4.6 block id

Rpi always specced coscast blocks. Until supply ran out! The blocks are complete liners etc already fitted. Just not top hats! I wouldn't trust any block pre top hat TBH. But you might get lucky! Even badly installed top hats can fail.

range rover p38 4.6 block id

Coscast blocks we're cast by cosworth as a replacement when normal lr blocks stopped production. As we know on most engines a block is for life not so on rv8s. They are reckoned to be better cast but are still not top hat linered. I would be tempted to contact someone and have it top hatted...

Oh that sounds interesting. Rpi sold coscast blocks for many years. On a normal block the liner is visible but much wider on a top hat block. The numbers are often machined off a top hat when the block is surfaced. What's the problem? Why the strip down?

    P38 heater o rings

This is standard stuff for many Land Rover Indies from when they were pretty new these beggars leaked. Phone around. See what they say. You'll discover a lot of Land Rover independents don't like them and will quote silly money. Others( like us) love them and will have done this many times.

    P38A Tyre recommendations anyone?

The tread pattern looks similar to wranglers to me.

    P38A Tyre recommendations anyone?

Are you getting your tracking sorted to! Simple job as there's no adjustment at the rear and the springs don't sag.

Hi Dan what tyres won in the end?

    wont start help pls

If it we're me I'd get a good quality battery from somewhere( ecp or anywhere). I got a Halfords and there ok but mine went tits up 2years in, easy swap though. I expect the new one not to last. Better quality will stand the slow drain and recharge that these trucks inevitably have. Cheap crap...

    P38A Tyre recommendations anyone?

Cooper zeons have transformed the ride on mine £500 fitted. 17 year old tyres will be saggy at the sidewall. TBH any new Tyre will be a transformation. Especially with a good track alignment. Check your radius arm bushes before you do everything though. Old tyres are dangerous.and don't perform...

I would go back to the cause of the burnt track in the ECU.

They often list stock and don't have the part. I tried for months to buy a new one. A scandi chap brought a new one using the generic part nos from the states a while back. Buyer beware on this.

Must of reset them then.it can't be anything major TBH. Your biggest problem is finding parts the last throttle sensor I brought was used and from America! It no longer available.

I'm not expert but it would be easy to check the throttle sensor voltage using diagnostics. I'm suspicious hes not reset adaptive values as I don't think the lynx does that. I may be wrong. Last time I changed tps it overreved until I reset adaptive values. Just blow down the tube if it's free...

Am them ment to both breathe as my one side ain't doin nothin. This is crankcase ventilation. It let's fumes that blowby the Piston dissipate. There is an oil catcher but other than that it's just a pipe vented into the intake. If one of those pipes is off I guess it would leak unmetered air...

    P reg 1997 4.6 v8 gems

Try the throttle cable. This should be slack. Play with it whilst it's overreving. The throttle pot should tell the ecu the throttle is closed bringing into play the idle valve. If it's not closing or the throttle pot is worn it won't bring the idle valve into play. Reset adaptive values would...

    Overpriced landies

Discoveries are something else.every land rover is filled with defenders and discoverys. These are a downgrade p38. Everything was deliberately aimed to be less than a p38. So why do they go for so much money? Even disco 1s fetch daft money. I reckon those mags that big the disco have really...

    Overpriced landies

I've said I'd love one but there cost and there lack of versatility put me off. If your into mods then the amount of tat available for defenders is incredible. Nothing for p38s. In fact it strikes me p38s are the new defenders. No nonsense, cheap as chips go anywhere do anything. Way out of...
