    P38A Got's me some ticking....

Big ends are fine when cold they only knock when the oil thins out when its hot. But it's usually a definite knock. It's common on v8s though as I reckon the oil pumps wear as these beasties dirty up oil quickly. a properly clogged oilway would need jetting out I reckon. Engine flush wouldn't...

    brake pipes

Accumulator that's it. P38 brakes are remarkably good when everything's working ok! Mine was cycling the pump every touch of the brakes. After it was every three or four. Just unscrew screw new one on.

    brake pipes

My over axle pipe was severely corroded. I could snap it with light finger pressure! Using loose pipe and connections allows you to mix and match where it's easiest to put connections. I also changed the brake booster ball.

    p38 engine swap

No it won't fit. The becm is also an issue

    P38A GEMS idle problem

For reliability I found a proper tps. Could one be adapted? Maybe but not a job I'd do. I found the aj16 gems one was identical but worked in reverse!. The maf on these can cause plenty issues. The maf will take over as soon as the throttle opens. Unplug whilst running no change dodgy. Slight...

Newbie needing help with p38 overheating !

Air conditioning or not it shouldn't overheat with a new rad. Is your stat faulty?

    P38A Got's me some ticking....

I did that and it's bin fine. The heatwraps nasty stuff though. Sometimes sockets get metal fatigue. Esp if you use them with impacters!

    P38A GEMS idle problem

The gems tps is as rare as a rare thing. It usually only interferes with auto box changes if it's got drop outs on the wiper. If it's static it will cause trouble. Good luck with your search I ended up getting a used one from the states. Someone did say new ones are around in America.( Henrikb?)

    P38A GEMS idle problem

Sound like an idle valve (stepper motor)problem. The throttle cable should be slack when closed. This then brings the idle valve into play due to the tps registering shut. When you apply the accelerator the tps senses this and brings into play the main air inlet. At which point yours dies. I...

Newbie needing help with p38 overheating !

I would seriously worry about this vehicle I guess it's been doing this since 2014. At 50 or 60 the viscous fan won't be doing much. A 98 will have blue antifreeze maybe the rad is clogged but four years overheating is not good for rv8 health. If you own this common sense says change the rad...

    Open the ECU for GEMS

He's asking for a free run ecu. Ie one that would work without a becm. As you say if it's in a p38 just resync the becm ecu code. This would be useful if you were putting the engine in another vehicle type. I'm guessing you need deep ecu access using diagnostics that's the extent of my...

    Best engine component degreaser solvent

If it was critical engine, must be clean stuff I would take it for a hot wash to a engine place. Then I'd use gunk or jizer and small brush. Toothbrush. Then blast with a jet wash. Do it again until it's right. Hot jet wash is best.

    Open the ECU for GEMS

It can be done. 100%. Don't know how though. If you resync the free ecu accidentally itstops being free!

    P38A 2001 THOR V8 INJECTOR PROBLEM

All you need to focus on is that one injector. Find the cut where the lpg wires go to the lpg ecu. Usually these are done with solder and a bit of insulation tape. They get really hot and just fall off or crack.
