Another 1997 300tdi Electric Window conversion kit

I'll need to look it up as it's been a while since I found it.

Another 1997 300tdi Electric Window conversion kit

I'm about to do the same thing myself. Apparently there is only one kit available and it can be made to fit the earlier type doors with some minor modifications to the doors. A quick search revealed that some metal has to be cut out of inner part of the doors and can be easily done.

    Metal p-gasket longevity

Thanks guys. So I can put my mind at rest.

    Metal p-gasket longevity

Goo was applied. I don't trust any land rover gasket (apart from the cylinder head) without some goo.

    Metal p-gasket longevity

I have just replaced the P-gasket on my engine. I have been finding small smears of coolant down the side of the block as usual and realised that coolant loss had been increasing (I usually top up no more than 500ml at service time i.e. every six months - this time I topped up more than a litre...

    Another engine knock thread

I had the same issue a few months ago and it turned out to be an injector.

    Expansion tank.....or something else?

Very common fault especially if your tank is the one made of black plastic. I wouldn't worry. No you don't need to drain the coolant. Just siphon out the coolant in the expansion tank with some rubber hose and store it in a clean container, remove the hoses from the coolant tank and tie them...

    Diesel knock when warm

UK. Ebay. BTW, the vid i posted is prior to injector replacement. It's all clattery and it had a horrible vibration that could be felt through the steering wheel. That's gone now.

Sorted. One new injector later and she sounds sweet!

Anyone got a boost gauge on their 300Tdi?

It's not necessary at all but gauges are nice :)

    Diesel knock when warm

Sorry mates. Tried to upload a vid but didn't manage. I'm technologically challenged

    Diesel knock when warm

Dunno if you can hear it but there's a distinct ticking noise which to me sounds like it's coming from number 1 cylinder. I placed the injector with the new nozzle in number 1 cylinder to be easier to identify. Am I right in thinking that this is part of a duff batch? I just ordered a brand...

    Diesel knock when warm

I just went to the diesel specialist who serviced my injectors and he suggested that i do a compression test. I'll go get a second opinion as it seems to me that the problem started after he touched them. At present it sounds like a very slight misfire at idle. i'll try to upload a video when...

    Diesel knock when warm

GGrrrrr. Still not happy. Got them re-done. He said that the new nozzle he fitted turned out to be faulty and he replaced it however it feels lumpy on tickover when warm. The ticking noise is gone but it still doesn't feel right. It feels as though it's chuffing (like a marine engine). I'll...

    Diesel knock when warm

Ggrrrr I ain't happy. I went to buy some injector washers from the diesel specialist who serviced my injectors and he had a listen. "Yep, it's an injector" he told me. "it needs setting. Please be patient, remove them and bring them again next week". But why will I never learn to let...

    Diesel knock when warm

That's what I'm thinking it is really. Not too long ago I replaced a head gasket for a friend of mine and it developed this annoying tick. it turned out to be a dodgy washer. I'll get a set and replace them as soon as I can find a free half hour.

    Diesel knock when warm

I have recently had my injectors serviced while waiting for a replacement turbo cartridge. Since then, I have noticed that the engine is sounding a little bit more clattery when warm, on idle and slightly above idle. It sounds pretty much like a leaky injector but there are no tell-tale signs...

    changing clutch m/c and spring

I would remove the pedal box even if I wasn't going to touch the master cylinder. It's soooo much easier working on a bench than in a cramped cab.

Perkins 4236 turbo, any idea on value please?

Value? zilch. Throw it away or give it to someone who has a boat to use it as an anchor
