    P.38 Emmot's of Colne

Only been once for a set of cylinder heads but seemed ok.

    P38A Tuning

My Kent 180 cam was nice (Turners). Low end torque improved & initial acceleration was smoother & improved. It ran out of puff higher up the rev range but then it's a 4X4 RR.

    P38 Vogue For ........

If it's a proper Vogue it will be a 4.6. For that money I would expect something major to be wrong but worth a punt for £500. As Brian said, you should get that in spares worst case.

    P38A Bye Bye P38

Thanks Saint, I gave it my best (to my ability) & managed to fix most things P38's can throw at you. There comes a time when the constant apprehension when driving takes the enjoyment out of it & just needed to take a step back & enjoy the experience of driving again for a while, going for...

    P38A Bye Bye P38

Oh no, just the standard 2.7 TDV6 lump, may be an ECU upgrade of some sort as it did feel more spritely than my last disco 3. Mostly it's interior upgrade, silver stitched rushed leather etc. Dont think overfinch is what it used to be.

    P38A Bye Bye P38

Blimey Rick! I'll keep it in mind.....mate has one & been no bother for the past 8 months he's had it. What spec engine oil is it? I've read it's best to get the gearbox megaflushed, could open up a can of worms though. I assume a basic fluid change is similar to P38 ZFHP24?

    P38A Bye Bye P38

Hi Grrrrr, I'ts an '06 with 104 on the clock. Overfinch spec & fully serviced by them. It had the cam belt & pulley change at 97k (£897 on invoice - ouch!), & the air bags changed recently. Will look into the EAS compressor upgrade though. I did flinch when i looked into the engine bay - no...

    P38A Bye Bye P38

Well, the time came for me to part with the P38 over the weekend. After 5 years & 89,000 miles it's been a real learning curve for me & in the most part has been a pleasure 'tinkering' to keep everything working as it should & I can't thank everyone on here enough for the help, advice & general...

    I'll second that!

    4.6 camshaft

Grrr is right, i had the KENT 180 on mine (from Turners). No mods needed they advised & this was a no mods fit when building the engine. I found the low end torque & performance far better but could possibly also be due to the high comp mod (4.0l pistons). It does run out of puff at the top end...

    P38A wheel bearings

Interestingly or not, I took mine to my mechanic to change the CV joint last week. Whilst he had the hub off he tried a Disco 2 hub to check fitment out of curiosity. Apparently they fit. Only difference is the ABS sensor position on the Disco hub (that can be blanked off to use the existing P38...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Hi Dave, I've always let the head bolts / studs settle for a while before going over them all again but not the intake bolts - stupid really. I could have wound them out by hand! RTV round the water ports & permatex on the threads it is. Ideally, It's not the quickest thing to get to though...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Yep, think your right - have some on order. The britpart valley gasket was a crap fit, this time i'm going with the Turners gasket.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Started stripping the engine down to source my pressurising. Got as far as taking lower intake off & it looks like it was leaking / sucking in air to the water galleries - gasket not sealing. strangely the bolts were very loose & I definitely torqued them up to 51nm? Will check my stud torques...

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

If the vaporisor is leaking you can get LPG in the coolant. If my new cap doesn't sort out mine i'm going to bypass the piping to the vap to rule out.

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

Will let you know if new cap sorts out my very similar issue - was hoping it would arrive today but hopefully tomorrow.

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

Seems like we have similar issues. Hope the sniff test shows ok. Also, check your expansion cap. Just noticed the lower rubber o ring on mine is missing so for £10 i'm changing it first to rule out.
