Thanks Adam, ;) Enjoying the Disco for now but do miss the 'character' of the P38. The skin on my knuckes has just about grown back & they say the scars on my arms will be gone soon too! Hows your's going?

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Hi Mate, I assumed it was my bonnet sensor on mine as i kept getting the bonnet open message whilst driving. Cleaned up the connector & adjusted the catches but it still kept going off. It's still connected to the sounder & must say it's the quietest alarm ever, could only just hear it going off...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Did a temporary fix for the alarm going off on the D3 after it's been parked for a while after running, unplugged the bonnet sensor & bridged the connections with some wire. Will have to get a new catch soon.

    P38A how hot is hot?

Does the temp guage show a real life reading? I always thought the needle stayed at 12 o'clock under varied temps unless the engine overheats, then it hits the red pretty quickly?

Belts should be changed at 105k miles or 7 years. I'd get them done asap if not done yet. It's recommended to get the oil pump upgrade done at the same time as the oil pump housing for the belt tensioner is weak & can break leaving the cambelt to do it's own thing & wreck the engine. The new oil...

Hi & welcome. The 2.7 is pretty lively for a diesel. Are you sure the EML is due to the air compressor? Has it had the cambelts done, hopefully it's had the oil pump upgrade done at the same time - casing is known to fail & take out the belt etc. Oh the joys of LR ownership.

    P38A Changing pistons & crank

The 4.6 pistons will be a straight fit into the 4.0l bores - same diameter (are you fitting new rings). You could also think about putting the 4.0l pistons onto the 4.6 crank to up the compression. Would need to remove the conrods though. Edit : sorry just re-read you only have the 4.0l block...

    My RRP38 History/Origions

Well, it certainly belies it's mileage from the look of it. Is it autobiography? Thought that was some mileage for a RV8 to survive!

    My RRP38 History/Origions

Looks nice, have you sorted the oil leak & exhaust leak yet ;) PS, thats some mileage for a V8

    P38A W-Reg Vogue

Well done, always a sigh of relief when she fires up after head job....well before quickly scurrying about bleeding the coolant system whilst choking on the oil burning off the exhaust manifolds. :)

Ok but your initial post was confusing as you covered options for P38 & L322. I think your really going to struggle getting a Sport for 5k. I would opt for an earlier L322 V8 on that budget but hope you have plenty of cash in reserve. PS, have you had a RR before?

    Picked it up yesterday :)

I've heard the same. No mention of my '06 having a new pump when the belts were done & if it makes it to the next belt change i'll change then. Disco3 is a great site for technical info, as much as i hate to promote other sites on here.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

It did get the better of me at times, has to be said. The Disco has been great so far & done 5k miles already. I do miss the 'character' of the old P38 though. Are you sure it's the alternator? I found my tensioner pulley was goosed but throwing the sound to the alternator.

Sounds like youve been busy! Think i need a new spare wheel winch as mine looks like it's about to fall apart. May go for the anti theft cover although my spare is only a steel. I dont have any diagnostics yet. Thought i'd dropped on when i found a icarsoft diagnostics reader pouch under the...

    Other service intervals

Hi mate, ummm...no mention of the oilpump upgrade being done whilst the belts were done on mine. Might have to put a call into Preesall 4x4 to check. It does seem to be '07 that suffer most as you say but does make me a little nervous. I might check the level & oil condition in my box before...
