    Metal chunks in sump

I also had a piece of metal in my sump (200TDI). It was the same as one of your pieces in the photo. Was informed that is was potentially from the timing chest where someone had put the bolts in and they were too long. Rich

[noob question] is this a 200tdi?

Cam belts the same, but always good to check engine code. As for hoses look at Paddocks, John Craddock's etc but be aware that some may have been changed/modified to fit the 300. Rich

[noob question] is this a 200tdi?

Its a G Reg so would have been fitted with a 19J originally. Looks retro fitted with the 300TDI with LT77 gearbox. Rich

    Defender wiring mess

I had the similar problem, 200TDI into my old 19J. I decided to renew the fuse box first replacing the glass fuses with blade type found here https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/mobile/product/311/category/63. After replacing some wiring in and around the fuse box I carried on into the engine...

So after looking at Steam Wally on YouTube I think my 1st / 2nd gets selector fork is well worn. His has two parts on the bottom of the fork that poke out but about 5mm. Think I may weld some metal back on and see how it selects

Thanks Blackburn, the measurements are approx 7mm at the end of each fork leg . Ive also noticed this morning that i'm missing 1x detent springs on the gear cluster (@Colthebrummie). I believe this may be the cause? Thanks Rich

Series 3 jumping out of 1st gear

Hi Col, oil is all clear - i've been living with this for nearly 2 years so might just put it all back together and live with it until i can afford a refurb unit. I was thinking of welding a bit more metal on the selector fork but cant get a picture anywhere of one. Rich
