    Defender 90 Sloppy wheel

You can adjust the backlash using the adjuster / locknut on the top of the steering box, just search on here for steering box adjustment (or similar). Make sure you know what you are doing and don't just guess it as it needs to be in a certain position when you do the adjustment

    Defender Speedo LED bulbs

Other thing to look at is the bulb contacts, if they are the bent wire style then some types go along the flat side of the glass and others around the edge, fit the wrong type and the contacts won't connect

Other instrument lights still working?, Have you tried them directly on a battery to check they work? Once you have proved they are ok it will be time to get the meter out to see if it is the supply or earth that is missing

TD5 new clutch - thrust bearing still groaning

If its only done it once then I wouldn't worry about it for the time being, things may sort themselves out as all the new components bed in. Just give it a bit of time to see how things go.

TD5 new clutch - thrust bearing still groaning

So there is no noise if you press / release the clutch pedal with the engine off?

TD5 new clutch - thrust bearing still groaning

Is the groan there when you press the clutch with the engine stopped? If it is then it isn't the spigot bush, sometimes the pedal box can make a groaning noise when the pivot bearings are dry

300 Tdi Belt Squeal - Penny Trick Warning

Have you had a look at the viscous fan pulley, I've seen them running slightly out of true when they have been warped due to abuse. Watch the grooves very closely and see if they move in and out when the pulley is turned.

    Transfer Box Dead

Don't know about that but doesn't the Freelander have a VCU that is prone to failure at about 80K? I think when it fails it is similar to using diff-lock on the road and causes transmission wind up which ends up breaking things. Do a search for VCU or go in the Freelander section and ask ( I...

    Four post lifts

One obvious thing to consider is your garage roof height, is it high enough to allow you to have a vehicle on the lift with the lift at full height (as that could add another 5 or 6 foot above the height of the pillars)?

    Painting head light surrounds.

Yea, a hot air gun would do it but probably won't give you that little nervous 'do you feel lucky punk' adrenaline boost that a blowtorch would:D

    Painting head light surrounds.

I have heard of people flashing a blow torch flame over the surface (with it removed!) to try and get rid of the faded finish. Never tried it myself and a lot of potential for it to go wrong and melt a hole in it! Perhaps if anyone has tried it then they could comment about whether it is...

Cost of gearbox and transfer box fitting???

Cant comment about a price but also consider adding a clutch kit at the same time, should save you hassle in the future

    Sudden loss of power

Check the diaphragm in the top of the FIP, make sure it is good and not seized (you can push the top plate down against the spring to confirm). If that is ok then make a note of its position with a felt tip pen and remove the whole plunger to make sure that the fuel pin at the bottom of the...

    Pungent smoke and it’s identification

Check all your oil levels (engine / gearboxes etc) and look for wet areas underneath, you may have a oil leak which is dripping on to a hot exhaust and burning off.

    Pictures of a 90 with 235/86/16 tyres and 30mm spacers ?

I have the same tyres on my 90 and don't have any real problem with the turning circle, are you sure the lock stops are set correctly so that the tyre misses the front arms by about 20mm at full lock (both ways)?

Mileage is pretty irrelevant, it's condition that counts.
