    TD5 cut out won’t start

Sorry I thought the pump only worked if you shortcut the relay. What readings did you get from the Nanocom? If nothing and your battery is giving a good voltage (12+ volts at start) then that rules out crank position sensor feed and ECU, and pretty much leaves a fuel issue. If the pump runs then...

    TD5 cut out won’t start

Is the fuel pump still not working properly? Have you purged the system of air fully? Replaced the air bleed valve?

If there is no sign of the connections for CDL on the transfer box, you still have an option available. Ashcroft Transmissions can sell you the kit to transform your transfer box with the correct internals and casing, together with the linkages to make it work...

Not a safe assumption at all; in fact if you do not have the lever already, it is very unlikely that you have a diff lock capable transfer box. The early models had the diff lock internals as LR was using up the existing stock. Once that stock was used up the boxes by default had no internal...

Defender is uncontrollable when driving through puddles / standing water

Pulling to one side when one wheel goes through a puddle is hydrodynamic drag not aquaplaning and it happens to all tyres - though again tyres with a bigger contact patch will suffer more drag. When a wheel aquaplanes there is almost no drag at all as the wheel is not fully in contact with the...

    TD5 cut out won’t start

The fuel pump power supply is obviously suspect, but you might want to check the battery voltage and get a diagnostic check in order to rule out the crank position signal or the ECU itself. You might also want to check the red ECU plug for oil.

Defender is uncontrollable when driving through puddles / standing water

As others have said, these are classic symptoms of aquaplaning. As the front wheels hit the puddle a wedge of water is forced underneath the front tyres and lift them off the road enough for the steering to go light. Worst case the rears lift as well you lose control completely. Nothing to...

Disco 2 Differentials and Transfer Box

When you drain the fluid you never get it all out, so if Atlantic British are suggesting that you should only add a specific volume, then what residual fill level are they basing that advice on? I always fill to level as described in RAVE; you know it is not under filled and as long as the...

    "Low" Battery Volts when driving

A healthy alternator should be able to deliver a little over 14V to a battery that has just had a big discharge - starting the engine. Your alternator might be a bit tired, but it could easily work perfectly well for a few years yet. Worth checking it though.

    "Low" Battery Volts when driving

Doesn't sound too bad to me. Does it go as high as 14V just after start, if so then the alternator is probably fine. If you are worried about the battery you can buy battery testers quite cheaply. I have one from Foxwell that works well. You connect it, tell it the type of battery and the CCA...

    Disco 2 LOF POWERslave

Beware assumptions. He is running a remapped TD5 with D2 transfer case and a great deal of acoustic matting. He usually runs at 65 for comfort, but will happily sit at 70 all day and can sustain 80 if need be. No vibrations whatsoever - other than those usually associated with a Defender. I...

    Disco 2 LOF POWERslave

The relevant phrase here is "long time ago". The LOF single mass flywheel bundle has been engineered to remove that vibration. My son fitted one with the HD release bearing to his TD5 D90 over lockdown and it is excellent. It is as smooth as a dual mass, but should last much longer...

Disco 2 Electrical problems and dead. crossed B fault code

The crossed B means that communication with the BCU has failed. Why would you expect removing it from the vehicle to make any difference? Good to hear that things are moving forward though. Best of luck with the headlining.

Disco 2 Electrical problems and dead. crossed B fault code

If the crossed B is still there then the ECU and BCU are still not communicating, and this probably accounts for the central locking at least. No experience myself of how to get them talking again, but there are a bunch of threads on here about how to do it and sierrafery is the font of all...

    Scotland North Coast 500

We followed a route that later became much of the NC500 in a S3 109 Safari. All you really need is a tent and some sleeping bags. The Transit would be easy and sensible, but the P38 will be an adventure and I assume that is what you are looking for.
