    TD5 power loss

I have just checked the Foxwell site for the NT530 and it does have software for Citroens. Looking at the coverage here; it looks at if the C3 Pluriel is covered. Are you sure it is not available on the 520?

    TD5 power loss

I think Foxwell are primarily focused on the American market where Citroen do not have a presence. However, they are a Chinese company and Citroen sales in China are on the up; so maybe they will be adding Citroen in the future - though I take the point that this will probably just be available...

    TD5 power loss

It also the model that Foxwell had to replace because the hardware could not support their own software upgrades. The reality is that if all you are using it for is a LR then either will be fine, but the 520 will be a bit slower........and I still use a Hawkeye Total on my D2 for anything...

    TD5 power loss

In my experience of using it on my TD5 D2 and my wife's Jaguar XE, the NT530 is absolutely fine. One of the benefits of the Foxwell is that for about £50 you can add other car manufacturers. One of the key differences is that the hardware on the NT520 could not cope with additional model...

    TD5 power loss

News to me. Mine has had two software updates since I bought it, but I thought these were model updates.

    TD5 power loss

Do buy the Foxwell, but go for the latest model NT530 and buy direct from Foxwell. Currently only £120.

td5 not starting after flat battery

Thinking about it, if you can get hold of a Nanocom or Hawkeye you could try re-programming the fob.......an get another one asap.

td5 not starting after flat battery

It sounds to me as if the vehicle is immobilised due to a faulty fob. If you can connect a diagnostic tool like Nanocom or Hawkeye you should be able to make passive immobilisation inactive which should allow you to start it. Sierrafery is an absolute guru on this stuff, I strongly recommend...

td5 not starting after flat battery

The original problem could be as simple as a defective battery. A TD5 needs a very solid battery for the ECU to operate the injectors. Before you do anything else I would connect a battery checker and see what Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) it can still generate and what the battery's State of...

New Defender with issues that LR are at a loss why.

They should have stuck with their D2, they really liked that.

    Disco 2 Turbocharger Preventative Maintenance?

As above, but also get a read out of live data. If you can get the MAF to deliver 600-650 under full power at 3000+ rpm then the performance is fine. If you don't have a suitable diagnostic then note the number of turns originally (13 is about right), then tweak the wastegate shaft to delay it...

Anyone recommend a welder in Lincolnshire?

I went with the Ancaster Service Station. It is run by Alan and Chris who are ex-RAF MT engineers and know a fair bit about maintaining LRs. I dropped it off today and I'll let you know how it gets on. I need to get myself a decent MIG welder as the two bits that need doing are pretty low...

Anyone recommend a welder in Lincolnshire?

I put the D2 in for Dinitrol treatment last Saturday, but having pressure washed it they have found a couple of areas of rust that need treatment before they can continue. I live near Sleaford, does anyone know of any competent welders nearby? It needs a patch on the right rear shock mount and...

Disco 2 TD5 turbo bearings - how much play?

It sounds as though there is some wear, but unless you are showing a lack of boost or neglecting oil changes it will probably last for a few years yet. Or it could let go tomorrow. ;)

Defender or Range Rover for towing horsebox?

Feck's sake. I wonder if he has made his mind up yet?

Defender or Range Rover for towing horsebox?

LWB will be better than SWB. If I was looking for a LR specifically for towing then self leveling suspension (air) would be high on my list of desirable features. If you are looking at around £7K then I would favour an immaculate P38 or reasonable L322 before a scrappy Defender.

    D2 TD5 T Box in Defender?

Jamesmartin makes a really important point. If you are fitting the full T Box rather than just adjusting the gearing to 1.2 then make sure it has a Centre Diff Lock otherwise your posh Defender will get stuck if even one wheel loses traction. You may not offroad much, but this will also affect...

Jubilee Clip, Hose Clips, where do you buy yours?

+1 for Mikalor. They can be tightened much more securely than a jubilee clip and do not degrade. Buy once and reuse as much as you like.

    Starting issue td5

What diagnostic tool are you using? The TD5 is not OBDII compliant so the common ones will not work and if you can get anything at all, will give erroneous results. Have you tried bump starting it? The reason I ask is that some starter motor faults can give enough electromagnetic interference...
