when you reattached the sender, did you have to replace the seal? I thought if you changed the sender you needed to.

I recently had this problem when I was rebuilding my bulkhead. I could not find one as an off the shelf part, so cut and used the old one. I suggest you start looking at discarded bulkheads, or maybe measure the other and cut one up.
