    Valeo or L.O.F Clutches

Just put a 300tdi Defender 130 clutch in - job done - a bit heavier but I have had a 130HD clutch in my 90 for about 8 years and I am used to it. £100-125 will cover the kit - I'd do the slave too while I am in, make sure you get the right one, there were two slaves and 2 pushrods, mismatch...

    Leaky flaps...

What do you seals look like? Are they just flap pieces of foam? Or do they have a sort of lip and moulding?
  3. D

    Leaky flaps...

You have the moulded ones that you can see while looking at the bulkhead then? The flat type go on the flap - so new question of OP required!

    Leaky flaps...

    They go on the flaps.

    Galvanised rear door hinges...

I think I have painted my 90's rear hinges around 3-4 times in the past 15 years. The last time, I thought, was to be the last time for a long time, they were stripped to bare metal, chemically dipped and cleaned and painted with the utmost care. Well, it lasted around... a year I think. So I...

    SP 4x4.

Just wanting to resurrect this post as I am having issues with quality and customer services with SP Panels or SP 4x4. I bought a rear galvanised Defender door, hinge holes for centre hinge at the wrong angle and now suspect top hinge holes are too close to the edge as the door sits too far to...

SP Panels - Rear galv door... issue

I have now sent a gentle nudge email and still not a peep - I also note they are not listing a phone number.

    BATTERY LIGHT ON

Yes 11.9V ins't high enough, you have told us the battery is sitting at 12V and then 11.9 on running so the charge indicator is on because there isn't the higher voltage on the generation side to cancel the light - i.e. no charge the power flows through the indicator illuminating it. You need a...

    Custom battery box...

I want a bit more than they and all the other panel manufacturers can offer to be honest. I'll see how it pans out, time may dictate a bought in product.

SP Panels - Rear galv door... issue

Interesting reading all, seems like their poor reputation is quite well known. That is disappointing, I do not, as of yet have a reply from them, email went in at 13:45 yesterday.

SP Panels - Rear galv door... issue

I went out to the garage to test fit my rear door about 30 minutes ago, top hinge and bottom hinge fine, middle hinge not looking good. I bought the door last summer, you know how Land Rover jobs go, knew I would not get it on anytime soon but certainly didn't think it would be over year. At...

    Rear Door Hinges

It looks OK from what I can see (not a lot I must add). What do you think is wrong? The body section of the hinge looks squint but then you have not bolted it up yet, remember these run on a brass bearing, so there is some wriggle room as long as it is within tolerance of the bolt.

Hang on I will get my magnifying glass.

    Rear Brakes!

I see you already have it out but for those who wonder in the future or suggested violence or damaging methods then you need to use one of these - hammer impact driver basically - NOT an electric/air one...

R380 gearbox oil to avoid crunch/grind

You are probably more attuned to your gearbox and can change gears when you are meant to. I think the skill of driving is slowing disappearing, but those who still posses it can get more from their cars. I even drive my "cars" with some gearbox care and the shifts are always silky smooth.

R380 gearbox oil to avoid crunch/grind

No yo should not, it is a Land Rover, drive it like a big old truck!

R380 gearbox oil to avoid crunch/grind

This will sounds like a dig, it isn't, it is just truth/anecdotal evidence, but you are not changing gear well if you cannot change gears without a crunch or grind on a worn box. I can change gear on my R380 with NO clutch once moving off, using the clutch, people have become far to accustomed...

Wont go up the revs, goes lumpy.

I see where you are coming from but this isn't turbo related, engine would pull the full revs it could naturally aspirated and hold them there, albeit less than boost fuel max revs, although, at no load WOT it should actually reach the 4800rpm.

Wont go up the revs, goes lumpy.

If we assume for now anyway it is not a injection pump issue then I have to say it sounds like fuel starvation. Over the years of working on Landy's I have seen this 3-4 times, last time was in my own 300tdi and it was a piece of silicone stuck in the union at the top of the pickup pipe...

    Custom battery box...

Ah, I was meaning for my own version, as in what to make it from. Given the level of rust I am going to say original is pressed steel and certainly riveted to the ali seat-box sections. I will drill it out and use as a sort of template. I'll post pictures, I think I will get 2 made and keep all...
