    Wanted - worn out swivels

Sorry pal, was trying to get it sorted this week but been flat out, will get them weighed at the weekend and let you know.

    Which shock absorbers?

I've stuck Terrafirmer's on mine, but I'd probably go for Old Man Emu next time around. Have a steering damper from them and seems much better.

    Wanted - worn out swivels

Yeah can do. I don't want anything for them, will check out postage and let you know.

    90 suspension - I’m at a roadblock

Extended shock turrets and mounts. Longer shocks. Got mine from Devon 4x4.

One for the anaoraks - swivel pin thrust washers

Interesting, I've just done this and didn't have an issue with preload. They came as part of a rebuild kit, didn't even cross my mind to check thickness!

    matting the back...

You could try a stone chip product to the underside of the tub (slightly rubberised coating), not sure how effective that would be, but if you're wanting to keep the raptor inside this may the best (only?) approach.

    Painting Panels

As whats been said above, painting flat does help with running paint but the amount of dust left after isn't worth it. I've done spraying in a Gala tent marquee, which is a good marquee, but even then loads of dust.Wetting down helps a bit, but also adds another issue to deal with. Next batch of...

    Limiting factor on my articulation?

Might seem obvious, but you have removed the anti roll bar links? Beyond that the above is good advice.

    LED headlights - too bright?

Most likely incorrect adjustment. And depending on where you get it MOT's they may not full check heights (correct distance from surface of measure etc). Are the light road legal - E marked?

Going from a Double Cab to a station wagon.

When I did mine a few years a go I seem to remember it being this way. Washer in between the panels, nut and wash top and bottom.

    No Backlash......

Ok, will bin the Britpart bearings and re start. Thanks James, your knowledge impressive and greatly received. A few months ago I had no idea too! And still very much learning!!!

    No Backlash......

Yes original cwp. Britpart bearings. Ah I see. I will do some checks against original carrier in that case.

    No Backlash......

I certainly hope so! I've got the ARB RD161, which is for the Defender Salisbury diff, but no mention of ratio's. Would the crown wheel fit if the carrier was incorrect? I think it best I start from pinion set up and make sure on my measurements.

    Sorry, lack of IT skills.

    Commercial chassis rust proofing...which one?

Very true, if I had to go back to the start and could off road the Defender for a extended period, that's what I would do.

    No Backlash......

I suspect I'm not explaining the set up correctly. I fitted new shims as a knackered the old when removing the bearing race. I've attached a pdf of two parts of the ARB manual. They note where the "shim packs" are installed. I've done as per these instructions, but I'm currently left with no...

    No Backlash......

Thanks James. Yes I have checked the pinion height, but as I don't have the LR Special tool I made do with with the magnetic base of my DTI, which wasn't great to say the least. So my logic was an error occurred here, resulting in incorrect pinion height. Bearing races were fully home and new...

    Commercial chassis rust proofing...which one?

not sure they would be better than a two post lift mind! That would be perfect. Maybe on day......
