I've sprayed the back of my 90 with Raptor and i'm really impressed with the finish. The only issue is, I forgot about my sound deadening.

When I got the defender, it had 'mats' glued down to the side walls and floor. I fear this isn't as hard wearing as my raptor spray and having a 'soft' finish will not be as practical. So, what does everybody else do? Is the sound matting the finished

Can the paint take knocks?
Mines a CSW with mats / carpets so I got a piece of Nitrile rubber cut to size for the floor. Tough and easy to clean.
 
You could try a stone chip product to the underside of the tub (slightly rubberised coating), not sure how effective that would be, but if you're wanting to keep the raptor inside this may the best (only?) approach.
 
I dont have sound proofing in the back meaningfully. Have soundproofed the bulkhead and seatbox and have a full length roof lining. But the rear tub is just bare. The only thing I do have is is a full length piece of stable matting on the floor. Although this is there for protection but doubles up a little as sound proofing due the weight of rubber. I would run it around as it is and maybe add a floor mat of some description before making the decision. You may find you can live with the noise?

I have mine upside down so it has the straight channels running the length of the vehicle. I found the dimples made it difficult to load/unload heavy things I needed to slide along the floor!
 
I would have LizardSkin'd the whole tub then raptor over the top. Would be quiet as anything.

Raptor does have its own limited sound deadening properties

A stainless steel threshold would set that off nicely.
 
Sounds good. Thanks for all the replies. The stable mats seem like a good idea and are nice and cheap!

What do you all do about the boxing where the benches would normally sit? Just leave them free or coverings?

That is what I have done. Leave the wheel boxes empty and jus have the mt on the floor. As yours are recently panted they should be harder wearing than he standard factory paint finish anyway.
