Disco 2 Replacement Stereo headunit question 2000/2004 compatibilty

Yes I believe the HU is the same for Lear and HK systems. Although speaker wiring is different. They sound a bit pants as you point out, as they are now old and knackered. Those HUs are avaon ebay but not massively cheap anymore

Disco 2 Replacement Stereo headunit question 2000/2004 compatibilty

Depends what system you have? Highline, nav or low end? Do you have an amp and cd changer under front seats?

    What would you do?

a Disco 5, not a td5…. Well chaps over to you, i know nothing of such vehicles.
  4. ronsealdeath

    What would you do?

A replacement engine is really them saying they aren’t interested. Any D2 owner really needs a Hawkeye/Nanocom in order to help diagnose these sorts of issues. But you may be able to borrow one locally from someone. Things like dodgy crank position sensors and wiring and maybe fuel pumps can...

    Disco 2 ACE woes

I would say your transducer is faulty. But a Hawkeye is needed to be more certain. Get another transducer and try that.

    Disco 2 Td5 front springs

Leave the ARB in place and use the factory jack to push the axle away from the chassis. On full extension ie when the brake hose is getting tight, the spring should pop out no need for compressors. Use another jack under the axle and you can raise/lower as required. Of course the shock needs to...

Disco 2 Fuel consumption, Can this be right ???

You are either calculating it wrong (brim the tanks as suggested) or have a brake caliper stuck on. Common problem on the D2. My auto Td5 with winch, steel bumpers, steering guard, full rack, dual batteries and 245/75 mud tyres does 19mpg around town, so your way off on your figures.

Glad its all cool now. Pun intended

    Disco 2 Air con issues.

The pipe is an awkward shape and not bendable, so getting it orientated into the engine bay is quite tricky. Remove the air box and inlet pipe to the turbo and then just try and thread it through. Its a bit like a rubics puzzle. I gave up and got busy with a rat tail file and within about 10...

    Disco 2 Air con issues.

I got my pipe from advanced motor factors, did the job. Remove the air box and grill and its not too tricky. I ended up cutting a bigger hole to feed the pipe through as it was a right pain.

Disco 1 New rear shocks needed

Get the orange Britpart ones instead, cellular dynamic. The super gaz shocks i had didnt last very long. But others have had success.

    Coolant temperature

Mine peaks at 93c and stays at that steady whatever the weather. Tapped into the elbow for top hose to fit the extra sensor. Very simple. Or fit a head sensor behind the bolt on that elbow, should read the same as coolant.

    Torn

Early D3 is not a car i would consider purely based on their reliability. The D2 isnt miles better but i can fix them myself and lets face it, its a proper Land Rover.

Disco 2 Discovery TD5 M&S lights flashing (is it just the xyz switch)

Need to get a fault code. Can be the loom, throttle pedal or xyz function or setup.

    TD5 Transmission problems

Did they fill it up with engine running etc? If not it may be low on oil. Assuming its an auto.

    Disco 2 Front bumper swap

They are tough so i cut them off. You can replace with bolts.

    D2 tyre query

Find a tyre size comparison tool online and if its within 3% it should be fine. It will gear it up slightly.

    Slabs timer??

Best way to measure drain is after the Slabs is off, either leave bonnet open or tape bonnet switch down so it doesnt pick up signal when it’s opened. My D2 was hard on my battery without it being a proper drain. So i hard wired in a solar maintainer and now its fine.
