98' TD5 2.5

Thanks Tottot.. Both filters replaced a few months ago. 98' td5....so ECU under the seat! One other gremlin I have noticed is the glow lamp light staying on longer even when starting warm engine.

So just when the old girl had been running well for a while..... ......she's started reving when idling....then of course because it's a defender it'll stop!.....then start....then stop.....drove from cold this morning 5mins to garden centre fine. Started up leaving said garden centre and revs...

Thats really good straight forward knowledge thank you. Over the last year Ive had the radiator, inter cooler, expansion tank/cap and recently the fuel cooler replaced - second hand one as the gasket trick didn't work. The engine has been pressure tested with inconclusive results! Oil is good...

Thanks Cliffbase. Rust coloured pooling on top of the casting. There is a hole in the middle of the casting that someone in the know said it may be coming up through there? Coolant in tank is clear.

98' TD5 110 100k on the clock.

Apologies if this has been covered. My ongoing mission to stop coolant disappearing has now turned to the water pump after replacing the fuel cooler. I've noticed rust coloured coolant on top up the water pump. Does this suggest it's failing & are they quite straight forward to replace? Thankyou

Yes I get that. I'm not interested in the economy. It's a work vehicle & I live in Cornwall. Trailer occasionally. I could make a full tank go around two weeks before the prices went up!

Fuel gauge gone haywire! How many miles can I expect from a full tank on my 98 td5 defender 110?

Hello all, so I replaced engine and transfer box oil a couple of weeks ago in my 1999 td5 defender with the intention to replace gearbox oil. It's like the gearbox is shouting you forgot me! Because reverse gear selection has become mighty stiff. So first port of call replace oil? ....and if so...
