So just when the old girl had been running well for a while.....
......she's started reving when idling....then of course because it's a defender it'll stop!.....then start....then stop.....drove from cold this morning 5mins to garden centre fine. Started up leaving said garden centre and revs are up. Got home and idling nicely on the drive. Pressure tested recently as a little coolant loss but test inconclusive!
I did lose power last week like it was limp mode but again rectified it's self since. What's going on??

Intermittent reving is often a sign of some air getting into the system, perhaps more so with older non electronic engines. The air lean's the mix some and the engine try's to compensate. Fuel filter and fuel pump are the common causes of air getting in.

Thanks Tottot..

Both filters replaced a few months ago. 98' td5....so ECU under the seat!
One other gremlin I have noticed is the glow lamp light staying on longer even when starting warm engine.

Time to check the ECU plug for oil contamination, leakage coming down loom frm engine. Other more Td5 user members will have more info.

Has anyone had experience of using the injector loom sold by Twinwoods that claims to stop oil creep down the loom?
