Replacing an A frame ball joint

What jamesmartin and Al203 said; you're replacing the part and nut so no need to faff about, pick your weapon and go to town on it. Us civillised folk use nut splitters, rather than the yobbos wi' there hammers and noisy cutting things :p

errrr, interesting start to Landrover ownership

How do you cover up the nuu and usual noises? Sing really loud (and badly:p)? as long as the chassis/bulkhead is good and it runs you're still onto a winner, Sounds like mostly wear and tear parts, the steering box is a straight forward job, did mine mostly one handed (because my other hand...

    Defender 300TDI Stop Solenoid issues

1V (11V drop) is indicative of a very poor connection such as a cable snapped internally or could be really lose on the ignition switch etc. If the exposed conductor touched anything conductive then it would likely cause a short to Earth which would pop a fuse.

    Power drop off on hills

Latest update, Changed the fuel filter today, the old one was pretty clean with no obvious crud build up and the fuel that came out of it was pretty clean. It was last changed about a year and half ago and not a lot of miles (maybe 1,000miles). What I did find, however, was the fuel filer bleed...

    Defender 300TDI Stop Solenoid issues

Have you tried turning it over with a lead taken directly to the fuel stop solenoid from the battery to confirm the solenoid is in working order? If you're getting 1V at the solenoid on the lead then there is a lose connection somewhere most likely, are you getting continuity on the fuel stop...

    Power drop off on hills

Inspected the fuel tank today, seems to be a small amount of crud on the bottom so looks like it'll be needing a clean anyway.

    300tdi doesnt want to start.

Check the connections on the starter solenoid.

What have you done to your Landie today.

Took it out in the snow to give someone a lift home, what a machine, what an absolute animal of a machine. A few of the unploughed hills I thought might defeat me, but no up them I went.:D Wiper blades kept icing up and the blowers/heater definitely needs a flush but what a machine the Landy is.

    Power drop off on hills

So have still yet to have a repeat occurrence of this issue (I've no doubt the problem is still there), thought I might get some power loss yesterday getting up and down unploughed roads but nope no massive drop off of power. though I'm not sure it was max power I was getting, hard to tell on snow.

    Unintentional rallying

Had the back end of my 90 out a couple of times last time it snowed, was not going quick for any of them and I was turning gently as well. Worth noting permanent 4wd means power does go to the back axle sometimes...

    Power drop off on hills

Will do, won't be doing much until the weekend though, its too damn cold  But here's what I am planning to look at; Turbo to FIP hose - going for a swap on this Intercooler pipes - looking to swap these out too (though won't be a for a couple of weeks) Fuel tank - going to drain the...

    Power drop off on hills

Daft question, are the intercooler pipes identical between Defender 300TDi and Disco 300TDi?

    Power drop off on hills

They would be great if they were the turbo to FIP pipe... :D Though might as well do the intercooler pipes at the same time for the sake of 20quid.

    Power drop off on hills

Anyone got a part number for the pipe, can't find it on AllBrit:oops: I'm going to try the turbo pipe first and see if I can get the problem to repeat (so I can test any fix I try)

    Power drop off on hills

Anyone happen to know the pipe diameter? Save me going out in the dark and fooking baltic conditions with the verniers.

    Power drop off on hills

Could I just replace it with some bog standard silicone hose?

    Power drop off on hills

Had the turbo hose off recently when I changed the lift pump and it had no obvious splits in it, fuel filter and draining the fuel tank is on the list to check already.
