    Fairey Winch / FW Winch

Have this saved but don't know where I got it..... "In 1971, Fairey bought MAP and continued to manufacture many of the MAP designs. The capstan winch underwent a number of modifications including replacing the lettering on top of the bollard to FWL (Fairey Winches Ltd)".....

    Rear Step Bolts?

Do you mean something like this?.....

Why only one bolt plate? mrc5509

It goes at the back of the "drivers outside seat rail". You won't be able to get a spanner underneath 'cause of the tank.....

    Alpine Windows

Thanks @steve2286w, I haven't got the seals yet, long term project, but the glass is 5mm thick. I can see what you mean by being in line with the 'tub hook' and then keeping it out of the gutter. I'll play around with those measurements and see what it looks like.....

    Alpine Windows

Hi all, I picked up the glass for two Alpine windows at Billing and am considering putting them into an 88" roof. I'd have to cut the 'holes' out but I think that's manageable. What I'd need to know is how far from the back edge does the window start and also how high out of the gutter should...

Then fitted the clutch pipe, slave to flexi, I bought a 'pre bent' one and to be honest it was a bit tight but got there in the end. Question, is it in the best position, it could be closer to the engine and do I need any additional support, i.e. a rubber grommet/bracket?.....

Moved the Battery Tray forward, but made it 'removable' to allow me to get to the steering relay in the future.....

Had a go at the Timing belt, my first time, and that wasn't too bad as long as you do your study beforehand.....

I'll order some of those nuts right away. I'll also be trying to keep some of the rod linkage for a hand throttle 'cause I've a winch to fit too.....

Thanks @lynall , I am keeping the series gearbox and have that ready to go. Have the Flywheel housing drilled to take socket heads..... And have the extra studs in place, just to fit new oil seal yet..... I'm looking at your throttle set up, but that will be for another day.....

    200Tdi (Discovery) into a '79 88" S3

I'm going to have a few questions on this so I'll keep them all together in one thread. I've 'trial fitted' the engine and it sits fine on the engine brackets/mounts/rubbers. I'm using Bearmach Defender rubbers, ANR1808 I think. So, first question is about the exhaust downpipe. As you know it...

    Gearbox Mounts

Hi folks, I'm coming near the time where the gearbox is ready to be fitted. I have these two mounts which came off the original chassis but have read that they are handed, part #s, 272501 and 272498. but I can see no discernible difference between them. Any pointers to tell L from R or are mine...
