Other what have u done on ur disco today

Land rovers and trouble free motoring are phrases not normally associated with each other, especially when applied to older Landies. But, when you have attended to the major items, hopefully your problems will be minor ones. Landies are not like mass produced Japanese trolleyboxes. They do need...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

And today's sojourn under my d2... As you can see, I think I might have found the reason for the Disco "going to sleep" when left for a small amount of time! As I had anticipated this, and a fellow member of the D2 Facebook page had sold me a pair of near new Dunlop units at a very reasonable...

    Finally got the dream defender

As most thefts these days include keys, I would recommend a simple hidden switch isolating the fuel solenoid! If it won't run with the keys, it's not half as desireable

Immobilised 300 tdi stuck in a car park

Ahh. Thx for the clarity. But where is the security ECU? Footwell/glovebox area in the D1? Are these prone to damp at all? Just trying to follow the logic of what's not working / happening

Immobilised 300 tdi stuck in a car park

If so, then again I would check the connectors. Wet Landies and electrics dont mix well...

Immobilised 300 tdi stuck in a car park

If the battery in the key fob has been replaced, then I assume the key is transmitting ok. Maybe the receiver is the problem. Do D1s have the receiver in the roof lining like D2's? If so, check the connector to the receiver for condensation/ corrosion, maybe the receiver isn't talking to the car...

1965 Series 2a Station Wagon in Holland

Ah. That's a rather low main bottle pressure. Technically known as "all gone" Ani I actually love my Joddle Ploers / edge setting tool. Works a treat as long as you remember to leave. 1-2mm gap between the fold and the edge of the infill piece for the fillet weld.

1965 Series 2a Station Wagon in Holland

If you are not going to use the mig "hard" i.e. Business use, then a semi decent unit would only cost you a couple of hundred. And a bottle of argon mix from hobbyweld is £70 plus deposit and one of those gave me enough gas to completely rebuild my mates 72 beetle ( and I do mean rebuild - new...

1965 Series 2a Station Wagon in Holland

I have to recommend getting a mig welder. I tend to call it "bridge welding" where you close op the gaps!!!

    New to the Disco 2

So a few bits done today so far. Old ignition barrel removed and new one fitted. Chipset out of the old bent key removed and swapped into one of the keys to the new lock. Drivers door lock and handle replaced, so we now have one complete remote key that does door and remote action, one key which...

    L322 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue starting problems - SOLVED

Bet you a pound to a pile of rabbit drippings you are spot on. The number of times I have stripped down a solenoid to get to the burnt and corroded main brass terminals inside , I have lost count of. The high amperages of starting current burns the terminals very quickly, leading to poor...

Can't do coffee annnnyyyyyy mmmmooorreeee makkeessss mmmeeeeee ggooooo ffuunnyyyyy . On a more sensible note, just sealed the rear sunroof as noticed it started raining inside , and I need to get a replacement drivers seat bolster cover. Any of the knowledgeable people here identify this seat...

    New to the Disco 2

My bad, I remember reading a post showing the RF receiver removal and its susceptibility to water /corrosion caused by broken sunroof drains. I take it the BCU is actually the box that recognises the signal that is sent from the key via the RF receiver. (Fob button push) "123456" received by Rf...

    New to the Disco 2

Right. Couple of questions on the ignition barrel/immobiliser on my 2002 D2 Original barrel is knackered and temperamental and the car only came with 1 key. I now have a full replacement barrel, keys and door handle, with receiver? Attached to the barrel. 1) as I have the barrel, receiver and...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Decided to remove the battery, tray, ECU and check the loom for oil (again, soon have a replacement one) however as my d2 is unloved in the past and the battery is at least 7 years old, on pulling it out discovered that the 2 front bolts in the base of the tray have been waterlogged and very...

    Finally got the dream defender

Well a defender can pull the side of a house down, so make sure it is a big ground anchor! Heaviest thing i ever towed with my defender was a fully laden 10 tonne Scania lorry which was beached in some guys driveway. Bit of a struggle getting it off the concrete ramp it was wedged on, but...

    Finally got the dream defender

Congrats on getting the dream defender. However step ONE has to be upgrade the security, fit a decent alarm and get a DECENT GPS tracker fitted. LRO rate the defender as one star for "theft of" and "theft from" for a reason!! They may be brilliant motors, but they are VERY desireable and now...
