    Greenlaning..in 2 wheel drive?

I'll have a look, but on Facebook, in one of the local groups/pages to me, there's a guy that green lanes in an old mk3 Vauxhall astra. He fitted steel rims, uses either small a/t tyres or winter tyres, may have given it a small lift, and fashioned a snorkel. He does carry other gear such as...

Petition to counter anti laning in the Lakes.

Shared. I've signed and shared a lot of petitions with change.org, usually 4x4/green laning or animal related. I don't get spam emails or virus', thankfully. Like BB has said, they're a pretty well respected organisation.

    stuck

Having not been there myself, I'd probably ask the guys that did attend if they think it would be possible to recover safely with dryer, harder ground (my D2 is my daily as well, so I'd not want to destroy it), but with enough people with the right kit, maybe it could be do-able. Ultimately...

    stuck

Would it be worth waiting for a spell of dry weather to allow the ground to dry out, then if we can find out who the land owner is, asking for permission to go and recover this CRV? Although I've read through every page, I may have missed something. But it that were possible, I'd be up for going...

Disco 2 Coolant smell and using it

Maybe check the water pump and seals. Previously I'd had an issue with the core plug, which got replaced, then I started losing water again, checked the core plugs, they were fine, checked plenty of pipes, all fine. Turned out the water pump and its seals were shot. If it is the water pump...

Based on his last comment, he'll be lucky to make it to five constructive comments, let alone 48!!! :D

Cheers Lynall, that's a good post. My D2 Td5 manual, on the standard 235/70R16 highway terrain tyres, I was getting around 35mpg on a long run (motorways/dual carriageways/A roads), and around 28-30mpg on general, which I thought was great. Since swapping to 245/70R16 mud terrain tyres, fuel...

    Hi fellow Midlanders!

I do a few of the lanes, and could probably get a couple of routes passed over as well.

    Hi fellow Midlanders!

I'm in Rugby. If you're on Facebook, look up the group MGLS. I'm a member, but it's a good group, run by an ex-GLASS rep, lots of laning days out and trips away. Join up, you'll get plenty of chances for days out.

    Midlands laning

If you're on Facebook, look up M.G.L.S. Good group, regular days out laning plus longer trips too. Definitely worth looking up and joining.

I had a little look into the D2 and isofix, but mine is the base 'S' model, so Isofix weren't fitted as standard, which is a pain. I have been looking at D3 prices on Autotrader and thinking that selling both the D2 and the Passat, and it could be an option. One of the main factors for me now...

Sounds like you had the same choice as me. I bought my Passat estate just before my daughter was born this year as the D2 didn't have isofix fittings for her car seat, plus wanted something a little quieter (mud tyres aren't great for a sleeping baby). Since then, I'm finding running two cars on...

Nice looking motor!! I was thinking of making the switch from my D2 (and Passat estate daily) to a D3, but decided to stick with the D2 for now due to what I've spent on it. Keep us updated as to how you're finding it compared to the D2 off the tarmac, I'd be interested to hear how you get on.

2004 landrover discovery td5 coolant leak source

I had a similar problem, turned out the water pump and seals were shot. Replaced the pump and seals and no more loss of coolant.

    Kelmarsh or billing?

I was going to give you and Rob a shout to see if you're going to either of these shows, and if so which day. I am tempted to visit the Kelmarsh show.

    1inch or 2 inch lift

I beg to differ about the 2" lift. I changed the tyre size on my D2 which gives a few mm's lift over the OE size. There are one or two lanes that I have bottomed out on (admittedly we had a defender with an expedition camper unit on the back which meant we kept having to stop) due to the ruts...

    1inch or 2 inch lift

I voted two inch lift, purely because I don't think 1" is enough of a lift for what I'd like. In terms of options, you could add 4" lift.

North Wales Green Lanes - Soft Core!!

I think, like Sue suggested, go to the GLASS website. I do know that the are some nice all season byways around the Cheltenham area of the Cotswolds. If you get in touch with the Gloustershire rep of GLASS, they could probably advise you further, and you would definitely get some nice views.

Good post Paul. I think this needs to be a sticky at the top of the list of threads!!

    Daihatsu fourtrak

In terms of space, I think they'd have plenty of room. I think they have more room than a 3 door Suzuki Vitara, and a family friend had no problems with baby and babyseat in the back of that. When my ex and I were buying a 4x4, the fourtrak was one of the options we were looking at, we were...
