No, it'll be running. someday. No, thankfully, it's on the surface skin on the rear doors. probably a stone chip gone bad or something.

    P38A Project P38

I am waiting to see if it's going to be scrap or a runner at the moment......:D:D:D The colour looks great once clean. there are a few rust bubbles coming out in the bodywork but nothing major yet.

Yeah, I've gone for a standard Payen composite gasket. Head fit number 2 …... Post wash and 2 of 3 of my LRs....

Yeah, I've had the misfortune of building up carbon blocks at work for engine mounts, I hate it. I found a trick where I slop loads of suncream or moisturiser on before working on carbon or Kevlar. When you shower it just all rinses off rather than sticking to your skin.

That's all I did, ripped them out, I didn't fancy fitting them again anyway, even after itchy hands from Kevlar tape! o_O I hope so! It'll be third time lucky!!!

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D I don't like doing the OS head though, so glad I took your advice on wrapping the exhausts! the top end strip took me 2 hours last

I also forgot to add, the top hose was rock hard and the cap was releasing pressure :) HG me thinks

Ha, your telling me! Still, I like being on learning curves, it get's boring when you stop learning and those who think they have nothing left to learn are those who still have so much more to learn.

    P38A Project P38

I'm fairly confident that there isn't a crack in the block but I guess you can't be 100% sure until you pull the liners out completely? That is a good point, it could be the valley gasket letting it into the intake rather than the head, I'll double check that before I get to the head. I did...

    P38A Project P38

Tell me about it, however, I think quality of parts may be a big factor on this other head. The second set of bolts I purchased were stamped on the head, the first weren't, the first HG I now realise weren't genuine, the second is. New parts all round all the way through. The head was...

    P38A Project P38

Yeah, I've had my time sucking my thumb, red eyed, in the corner! :D Last time this happened, I pulled the plug out and it was soaking wet!

    P38A Project P38

I was going to just restart this thread once I had the engine running and knew it was ok, but, in all things range rover, I'm coming back because all is not well and it's getting interesting/ REALLY ****ING ANNOYING! :D So since the last post, I have replaced the FUBAR'ed HG on the N/S bank...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Yeah, it's running, few little issues to iron out but drives :)

What did you do with your Range Rover today

My P38 rolled out of the garage tonight under it's own power, some more bleeding to be done I think but seems to be ok so far.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Yeah, I got as much tape on things as I could get my hands in, I haven't had the chance to try it out yet due to the engine FUBAR.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

The dash was actually a lot easier than expected, once it's off, everything is easy to get to :) I also forgot, I lubed up all the flapper arms in the heating box with some lithium grease. My blend motor had jammed due to a seized shaft.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I have ripped the dash out, changed the blend motors, changed the heater O rings, replaced the screw for an Allen headed cap bolt. While the HEVAC unit was out, I replaced the ribbon cable for the silicon zebra connector.

    Freelander 1 Freelander Turbo build

Bit of thread resurrection but just wanted to highlight that the turbo K series engine has been running really well. It's currently set to around 10 Psi of boost, keep it sane for daily use. The owner of my local land rover indy was very impressed with it when he saw it the other day. It's...

    P38A Project P38

I made a mistake, I was rushing because I was excited to get it on the road. I was also working in a garage that was about 4 Degrees C at the time. I had realised long ago that my engine was in fact imperial, despite contrary advice in other parts of the internet. It seems that some people...
