Thanks for that! I've just had a look on their page and their options look pretty good!

    P38A Project P38

Don't worry, I won't be throwing money pointlessly. It's the block that I am considering buying but obviously that won't be before the thing is in individual pieces! I'm just trying to find a route that is reasonable in cost but gives me longevity. Longevity is most important to me at the moment.

I'll give them a call tomorrow I think.

    P38A Project P38

Well the chassis is in great Nick, my eventual plan is to do some travelling with it up to some northern climates so I think it may be worth looking at a brand new block...... Where's my credit card gone?

    P38A Project P38

Sorry, getting my wires crossed, yes the Turner's are the top hat ductiles. I did get the impression that they can be fitted to a cracked block.

    P38A Project P38

I think that's the problem, I can't guarantee another block I buy isn't cracked, I've read a few reports that the ductile liners can go into a cracked block as with the boring out, it then essentially becomes a wet liner with O ring seals top and bottom and will work quite well to repair a...

    P38A Project P38

Engine is out! I think I've decided, basing on reviews and research to go for the Turner's ductile liners. I think it's worth it money wise to make mine a good block. Engines are selling at around £700 on eBay for unknown condition. What's the concensus on these?

    P38A Project P38

I was considering taking the box out with the engine, my only issue is I'm working in a pit and don't have anything to hold the weight of the gearbox up, so for now I'm just going to strip the engine out and leave the box in.

    P38A Project P38

Did a little more work tonight after the wife went out. Cats away mice will play. Got the engine mounts out which was a bit fiddly, removed the top and bottom nuts from the mounts, lifted the engine and gearbox up tight against the bulkhead and managed to JUST squeeze the mounts out. The engine...

ok, that makes sense, on the stroking. Can that be done to a duff engine?

    P38A Project P38

I have the same reservations as you, believe me! :D Am I right in thinking that the 4.0 and 4.6 is just different heads? I'm just thinking about If I'm going to take it apart and do the top end then I could broaden my search out to 4.6 and 4.0 blocks. If I was to get top hat liners, is it a...

    P38A Project P38

Yeah, I agree, the engine I am looking at is a 100K miler but does have an LPG kit which from what I read the theory is that it's a bit better on the engine as it runs at a lower temperature. They do offer a 30 day guarantee that the engine is good so I will only have lost time if it does turn...

    P38A Project P38

So got back into the P38 again, I've got a few projects on the go now. Carport for the Mustang, An old IH 250 tractor which is running but just waiting on a few parts to make her complete, lastly a barn that needs tonnes of cement pouring in the walls and I can only do it by hand as nowhere down...

    Hello! My Freelander 1:

Ha! I have considered merging the Freelander body on to the P38 chassis..... :D I'd then call it, the Pee Lander XD

    Hello! My Freelander 1:

My favourite mod has been the 1.8 turbo engine from the MG ZT :D It's got oodles of power now and shows up a few boy racers in their 1.2. Mine is nowhere near as clean and tidy as yours, it looks great!

    S3 Dumb Irons

I'm not sure on just a dumb iron but I had a rear cross member done for about £450 6 years ago, I don't think that included parts.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I've been dreaming of getting the RR back and running, I'm back home from work next week so I'll be off to scrapyards to see if there are any good engines. Once the RR is running, I can then get my garage destroyed and rebuild it in a steel frame building :D

    Chassis Paint Remover.

I've just purchased this contour tool from frost, haven't tried it out yet but I have seen it being used loads on hoonigan project cars. Not cheap but I have a tractor anda series begging for new paint so it should save a lot of time.
