What have you done to your Freelander today

Yeah, speedo etc is all working, the K maps ECU reflash was all that was needed for that side of things.

What have you done to your Freelander today

I didn't think of that so I must agree! IDIOT! I've got a set of rare recaro freelander bucket seats bases that I'm itching to try out! Still, I've got the series 3 to sort out as well. Even the wife came back tonight with a big smile on her face saying she forgot how quick the freelander was...

What have you done to your Freelander today

The wife has been procrastinating over wether she wants to upgrade the freelander 1 to a 2. (this would mean I can then start getting it prepped for a bit of racing) It recently started running rough and would only rev happily between 2-3k rpm. Not enough RPM to allow the turbo to spool up so...

    Starting 2a petrol

I don't think it's been mentioned yet but you may need to clean the contacts in the distributor points. It's the small spring loaded switch in the bottom. I've just started mine up after a few months sat in the field. At first it wouldn't start, checked fuel, voltages and turned ignition off and...

Series 3 Chassis rebuild parts recommendation

Good Idea and good point. I will try that. Maybe for a separate post but I managed to trade a quickie loader for my IH 250 for a water tank that I wasn't going to use. Brilliant!

Series 3 Chassis rebuild parts recommendation

I did look there but either I am being daft or they don't seem to do chassis parts for series LRs.

Series 3 Chassis rebuild parts recommendation

So with the amazing weather we have been having recently, I have decided to try and get the S3 back into legal, roadworthy condition. I have had a check around the chassis, The front nearside dumb irons need replacing and The offside rear leaf spring mountings, both front and rear end of the...

    P38A intermittent coolant pressure issue

I had very similar symptoms, I changed head gaskets, thermostats, etc. At one point, the car was running at around 8mpg, whilst cruising, just because it was trying to keep itself running and not die.I finally decided to bite the bullet and rip it out and found that one cylinder hadn't fired...

    Range rover Classic roller/Brush painting

Tractol or tekaloid is very good paint for hand painting. It's a high gloss paint and comes out very shiny. It looks good and lasts a while without effort or if you want to go the whole hog, with flattening etc, you will get an almost sprayed on finish. I've used it on boats, tractors and my...

L322 Thinking about buying....but these issues

If it was £360, you'd entertain it, for that much, not worth it.

Pressure washer will be out tomorrow to clean out the engine bay and chassis rails.

    P38A Project P38

You are Bob on with number 2, you can actually see the water coming out. I'm 100% on top hat liner, it's just like a K series though, it seems there are so many opinions flying around that I just want to strike the right balance of money and finished outcome. I've built a great little K series...

    P38A Project P38

There is a coscast on eBay for 2.5k, 7k miles, that's more than the parts for a new top hat build...

    P38A Project P38

So slipped liners aren't really an issue until they knock? It's just when they are cracked on the block as well it's a real issue?

    P38A Project P38

Yeah, I'll get a micrometer and measure them all before spending any time on them. One of those liners did this.....

    P38A Project P38

From what I can tell, The coolant leak has been going a while and the coolant has been heated a lot and has crystalised, the sump is caked in ****. To be honest, even if I had managed to solve it with a new head gasket, that bottom end wouldn't have lasted much more than a few years before it...

    P38A Project P38

A few more pictures of the liner heights and unfortunately, a pretty nasty looking crank bearing faces. I'll let you guess which one the bad liner is from these 3! :D

    P38A Project P38

Seems pretty conclusive, liner feels ever so slightly lower than the rest. Interestingly, the HG I mucked up held beautifully.

Just thought I'd show a picture of the lock tap I made to keep the torque converter in place.
