Jacking under 200tdi Sump for engine removal?

Land Rover engines weigh an absolute ton, it is hard enough to remove them with an engine crane, I fear for your limbs and digits.

    Changing vehicle details on v5

I did an engine swap a couple of years back, I just sent off the V5 with the new engine number, no receipt or letter and received an updated V5. I suspect that DVLA only get giddy if you are changing to a cheaper tax class, or changing from dirty diesel to petrol. The rules will have 8ugger all...

Make a note of the colour of your speedo drive. there are different ones dependant on your tyre size.

    200tdi running 1.6 transbox swap to 1.2?

I will have driven a standard 300tdi at some point, but not recently, so can't remember specifics. Defenders on standard ratios always seem to feel a bit revvy to me, but this tends to keep the turbo on boost. Where mine feels a bit sluggish on long hills, it is because the revs are too low and...

    Snorkel for 2.5 n/a?

The military fitted snorkels to the winterised Land Rovers, but I think that there was lots of faffing about to fit them. https://www.defendersource.com/threads/1990-winter-wader-rhd-110.150408/

    200tdi running 1.6 transbox swap to 1.2?

I have a 300tdi in my ex-military 110, running 750x16 tyres. I fitted a Discovery 1.2:1 transfer box as it came with the dead Discovery that donated the engine. Prior to this it had a 1.6:1 transfer box and although it accelerated like a scalded cat, it was screaming its boll0x off at 50mph. The...

    New speedo cable doesn't fit!

If the cable fits the drive from your old transfer box, just pull it out and fit to the new box.

    New speedo cable doesn't fit!

May just be a 5hit quality cable, you could try filing the square part to fit the transfer box. You can pull the speedo drive out of the transfer box without dismantling anything and inspect the drive and cable close up.

    Td5 into Series

Never heard of it being done, but that doesn't mean it won't fit. Clearly TD5's do fit in Defenders, but they are a long engine and the front cross-member is a a lot further back in a Series 2A. so may foul the front of a TD5. Have a look at a TD5 Defender's engine bay, as a guide the vertical...

    109 van side panels onto a 1991 110

The sides should be the same length, the seal at the base is different to the 110, and some of the bolt holes at the top may need re-drilling.

Mounting heavy wheel on rear door...HELP..

The hinges aren't the problem, the problem is that the weight of the spare wheel destroys the rear door frame.

    Defender 300tdi with LT77

It is normal for there to be missing studs in the bell-housing when the 300tdi is mated to the LT77, the only additional stud that you can / should add is the one in the 6 o'clock position. The stud pattern is the same on the LT77 and R380, the only issue is that the slave cylinder is on...

    Defender 300tdi with LT77

If you were to use a standard 300tdi chassis with a long bellhousing R380 gearbox, you will need 300tdi props, 300tdi gearbox crossmember, the transmission tunnel is different and the front of the seat box needs modifying. This is because the transfer box is mounted 2 inches further forward...

    110 prototype...?

Not a Stage 1, it's on coil springs. My guess is it's a bitsa, unless its VIN says otherwise. The registration number was issued in Portsmouth, which is a fair trek from Solihull.

    Fuel tank and shield mounting

From memory, the shield is hard against the tank and the rubbers go below the shield and on top od the tank. I recall it being a bit of a faff as the shield wasn't the perfect shape and needed a bit of help with a jack.

What sort of Defender is this

The military 110 soft tops had a roll bar behind the front seats. The seat belts attach to this at the top mount. I wouldn't want to be driving a soft top Land Rover without some sort of roll over protection.

    Wheel Advice wanted

Wolf wheels are a standard heavy duty steel fitment and are quite popular. They were retro-fitted to military Land Rovers and pattern / reproduction versions can be bought for not a lot of money. https://www.paddockspares.com/16x6-5-wolf-rim-tubeless-white.html
