Abs fault ( the lemon strikes again)

The vehicle actually brakes better with the abs and traction disabled i.e. with the lights staying on - at least I get a consistent brake pedal. Shame it wont pass an MOT like that. After each set of front sensors were fitted and before the lights came on, I had a pedal that alternated between...

Abs fault ( the lemon strikes again)

Beginning to think the LR specialist has conned me into replacing 2 perfectly good front ABS sensors as the intermittent stiff pedal problem that occurred originally has occurred again just before the lights came on. Time to clear the codes and check the pump and pressure switch - maybe the...

Abs fault ( the lemon strikes again)

Update:- 12 days after 2nd set of front sensors fitted - same fault again - abs & traction control lights back on :(

Abs fault ( the lemon strikes again)

Finally sorted. Fitted the sensors I had from the Landrover specialist and the abs and traction lights have extinguished. Sensors were from Landrover branded OE equipment but not genuine Wabco. Externally identical to those I bought from eBay and although the DC resistance values were similar...

Abs fault ( the lemon strikes again)

5 So that begs the question that maybe the well known 4x4 dealers are selling sensors with an 800% + markup i.e. £120 + for a £15 Kerr Nelson part ? How would the man in the street know the difference ?

Abs fault ( the lemon strikes again)

I am wondering now if all these generic OEM sensors are all made in China and then sold here at vastly different prices. Both sets I have got have got the pimple on the end, whereas the originals were flat. I spoke to someone in Technical at Kerr Nelson today and even theirs are made elsewhere...

Abs fault ( the lemon strikes again)

oem spec sensors turned up - identical to the ones i fitted. Checked resistance myself on existing ones, n/s 1100 ohms, o/s 950 ohms. Is that enough of an imbalance to trigger the abs and traction lights ? I thought anywhere between 950 and 1100 was within specifications. Gonna remove them and...

Abs fault ( the lemon strikes again)

Same pressure switch as on my old 1990 mk3 granada abs Ate Teves mk II brake system. Identical pump as well but modulator is different. NOS pressure switch on eBay last night for £62 posted. In fact I fitted a Wabco P38 accumulator to the Granada a year or two back as neither Ford nor Saab or GM...

Abs fault ( the lemon strikes again)

yes i've read about that - but how likely is it to fail in service ? Could be the abs ecu on its way out as well. I think its a trip to my local garage so he can hook it up to some proper diagnostic kit as there are too many possible causes to start throwing parts at it.

Abs fault ( the lemon strikes again)

Just wondering if a faulty pressure switch would throw up abs and tc lights ? Accumulator was changed before lockdown in 2020

i think i need a Nanocom, the AA guy couldn't even read the fault today :(

Abs fault ( the lemon strikes again)

Hi Datatek, Yes they are fully home. I cleaned all the loose rust off the hubs and reluctor rings as well when I had them off the vehicle, so I don't think the sensors have picked up any fragments of rust. I think I might just disconnect the battery for a while and reset the system and then see...

Abs fault ( the lemon strikes again)

During my 6 years of ownership I know that you can get all sorts of error messages with a poorly charged battery - auto gearbox faults and all sorts but this is the first time i've had abs and tc lights stay on. I had to destroy the original front abs sensors to remove them from the hubs as they...

Abs fault ( the lemon strikes again)

Anyone want to help diagnosing abs and traction control errors after replacing both front abs sensors a few weeks ago ? Car has been fine since up until today when one of my rear tyres was much lower on pressure than the other 3 so I blew them all up but I doubt that caused the traction error...

    P38A rear brake mudshields

I replaced the fronts with genuine about 5 years ago - £100 each for rears is sheer daylight robbery. Mate of mine has a disco 4 and the fronts are £65 each - another rip off.

The ikea trays. Much sharper cross section profile to them.

    P38A rear brake mudshields

2 of the old bolts sheared off so hub flange had to be taken off and old bolts drilled out and re-tapped as you can't get in with a drill at 90 degrees to the face of the hub otherwise. Cut backplate with cutting disc, new disc for straight edges and a worn down disc i.e. smaller diameter which...
