could be it is not advancing correctly, however you say the timing belt was done. i would start with a double check of pump timing as a little bit out there can cause some issues. i would stay away from FIP until you really have to

if you have the binnacle out it always a challenge to get it connected back again, so running a new one will be a proper challenge
