I have a 1986 LHD 90, and I can't find a long enough speedo cable.
I just got a new set from paddocks, and and the upper an lower half together are a good foot short of reaching the transfer case.
Currently, I have an extension bodged on using an offcut of the old one and a terminal block...not ideal

I must be missing something fairly obvious, but I can't see what. Any ideas?

Are you routing it correctly. To run from the speedo to the transfer case it a pita when the thing is built and there is only enough slack if you choose the original planned route.

Good point. The binnicle needs to be fully home and the transfer box connection made last too.

When I changed my Speedo cable it was like rodding a blocked drain trying to get the cable to flush, sorry follow the gap between the floor and transmission tunnel.

if you have the binnacle out it always a challenge to get it connected back again, so running a new one will be a proper challenge

I'd done the instrument panel connection first, and left the transfer case side free. If it is a well known pain, that is reassuring!

I'll have another, careful look at the routing, and will try it without distracting dogs this time....

Got the bugger in! Agreed, it is a right pain in the neck.

If you have a cable puller for running electrics, it is a great help..and something I wish I'd though of earlier.
