    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Spent this weeks money and ordered a new set of wing skins and a set of headlight panel ones. I was looking and debating getting the abs plastic ones, but having never used or seen any in person I decided against them and went with the standard Aluminium ones. More expensive, but I know exactly...

Haha, yes, I have just been letting things get on top of me of late. Pictures I stopped using photobucket as I found it just kept crashing on me, I now just upload direct from my phone, took a while to work out how to do it, but easy now I know. I'm no good with this fandangled phone technology...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Did a little bit yesterday, today was ruined by rain  Carried on with the tub, now I'm sure the drivers side has been repaired in the past and the side skin had been riveted on, whereas original is spot welded. I didn't like this so I decided to stick it on instead and I will fill over the...

Cheers mate :) but why bad from when you did yours? Thanks Steve, Yes it is good stuff and relatively cheap, I use it a lot, anywhere where steel or alloy may come into contact. I got it from here...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Another couple of hours today, and did a little on the tub. First job, remove said tub from the chassis, along with the seat box and seat I put in temporary when I was meant to be moving house. And got the under floor strengtheners riveted on. No rubber pads for them at the mo, but will get some...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Did a little bit today and made a start prepping the bulkhead for paint, and drilling a tapping all the holes out. Vent pin holes are a bloody nightmare to do  Just a little bit of filler on the top corners to get them a little flatter, and a little on one of the door pillar's where it has...

Thanks for the offer Paul, I will give you a shout if I need a hand, just need to get planning through and confirmed :) You and me both, didn't do my last one either :( Still not decided what to do ref shed/garage, but timber is tempting at the mo, cheers for the information and input :)

DEFENDER 200TDI Time to ditch the ear muffs and hot waterbottle

Personally Ant if you want something that cuts noise I would forget the carpet and would be looking at rubber matting instead. Although the Dynamat should make a difference alone. I fitted the Wright off-road matting and found it made a good reduction in sound, general road or vehicle noises...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

This weekend has mainly been wet, windy and cold here, so not a great deal has been done at all. Some seam sealer turned up in the post on Friday, some 3 weeks after ordering, so today I decided to spend and hour or two doing the bulkhead. A somewhat messy, horrible job. Done by putting masking...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Yep, that is something else I learnt tonight whilst reading up. Garden is 8m wide, I want a shed/garage 5m wide, so it can go 1500 from each boundary if I wanted to. I wanted it at least a metre away anyway so I've got a decent path all the way around it, and somewhere to store some of that...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Been doing some reading and I was wrong. Where I want to build my garage, (1 metre ish from a boundary) I will need planning no matter what it is built out of. No bother, was originally going to anyway. And the more I think about this timber framed malarkey the more it seems a good idea, both on...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

No I agree, which ever way I go I want everything above board before I start as It isn't worth not doing and having to possibly have to take it down. The cost of planning is small in the grand scheme of things.

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Planning is needed if you want to put a pitched roof on within 2m of a boundary. I could build next to the boundary with a flat roof without planning permission. At least around here anyway, with restricted building heights, 3.5m ridge height from memory, or 3m maximum height for flat roof...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Timber would be warmer and dryer yes? If I knew I was staying here it would be built cavity wall and likely twice the size, but I know I wont be and I just want something to get me by for the next few years that is better than I currently have. Which is getting worse and now has a leaky roof...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Nice work bud and thanks for the reply and information. I work with a builder as a day job labouring and we do most things and can do a lot of it myself, or a little assistance. Not a fan of flat roofs myself either, and we put our roofs on ourselves at work, but building timber framed from the...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Thanks for the reply's chaps and thoughts about building in timber. To be honest it hadn't even crossed my mind, probably more because wood-work isn't really something I would do myself. I'm not even sure how they're constructed, so if you build a timber framed building what sort of roof...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Would be a damn sight better than now that's for sure :) Do you recon? I don't really know the prices of timber if I'm honest, Block work I can get done fairly easily as are kid is a bricky. At 6m x 5m. That is 5m across the back, 6m down each side at 2m high, plus a bit of a gable is less...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Good god I just can't get back into the swing of things, don't know why, and not like me, everything just still seems up in the air even though everything is back where it should be, just lost interest a little, weather doesn't help mind.. So we have decided we will stay where we are anyway...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Yep :( These things happen though I suppose, just annoying that it could have all been avoided has they told us the truth from the start. And yes I agree about the solicitors, I sent them the extra money needed for the new house via bank transfer, when it fell through they said oh yes, we will...

    Aaron's 90 rebuild round 4

Well, that's it, house move has officially fell through, the house we was going to buys solicitors have finally admitted they are no where near ready after weeks of stringing us along. Something to do with probate, i.e the proving of a will, so god knows what the issue is or how long it would...
