There is enough information floating around, that I can give it a go, and it will probably work. I'm going to have a gander at the BMW service manual about changing this timing chain. 475hp https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/videos/a32547/hell-yeah-the-durango-srt-does-a-four-wheel-burnout/

I have acquired a HP-24H /065, and torque converter. I am going to use the ashcroft adapter. The M57, apparently early 3 litres are 390-410nm. The transfer box on my 2.5 auto is the same as on the 4.6 auto.

There are plug and play loms available, modified ECU's, with and without immobilisers. They come with a loom for the engine and also a loom for the body. There is a facebook page called 'landrover bmw engine conversions' and there are 3 vendors on there (and another in Poland) with looms...

It's a complicated looking engine on the surface. The cooling system is more elaborate than I've seen before, and it has a radiator for the diesel fuel? I havn't been able to dig into the engine yet, my girlfriend needs attention this week and thats far more important. Break it down, take...

Wammers I am built to make mistakes. I do not mind at all. I'll make a few more and then I'll die quite happy, content with my mistake quota.

My car 'one eye' had a 2.5 M51 that needed work, so Im swapping in an M57. I've no idea what Im doing, Ive done all the jobs before, or thereabouts, but this is a big old bite to chew. I'll record my thoughts as I go and hopefully save some of you from making my mistakes. No. 1: bring a 6x3...

I found a stock electric compressor locally so may revert to standard. I have bigger issues now, I have an engine swap on my hands. I bought an M57 today. I'm gloing to service the timing chain then think about installing it. Will take a while. Ces't la vie. I had a good look underneath the...

Abomination. Here is my air system. I know you can criticise it heavily, all day if you wanted to, but I would rather you did not. If you could instead think, whether it will work or not, or is it dangerous. So constructive criticism welcomed please The stock Air Dryer will be fitted...

Okay I'll proceed with that option. I can buy the tools. If I mess up, I can remove the head. I would like this engine to get the car through an MOT and road legal, which it is not at the moment. Once it's on the road I'm going to start collecting the bits for an M57 swap.

Thanks for looking Wammers, I appreciate the input. That noise is completely new, never heard it before this evening. Wonder is it related to the pfffff / dump valve noise I heard at 4000 rpm. I am reading a thread you posted in on the similar subject, here -...

Cheers Wammers. I had read some threads and had a suspicion thats what it was. I'll let you know the idle speed later when I'm home. Do I have to take off the timing chain cover to get at the pump? This sounds like the worst thing that could have happened. I'll press on regardless though.

I think it might have been the turbo, sounded similar to the dump valves boy racers fit. In which case its nothing to worry about. The stalling is more or a concern I think.
