Am tracing it now with a multimeter using my spares car. Will check the same on my good car next. The wires run to pins 7 as far as 11 on this plug. The same plugs are used on CNC machines. I'll check those on my good car, and then follow the loom along.

Wammers will re-read your posts and do as you suggest this evening when I get off work. Have had a positive development, at last. I've located a Land Rover mechanic 20 km from me, so I gave him a ring, he is going to take a look at it next Wednesday. So this gives me time to tap away at it...

@wammers apologies, I simply opened it to see was that one is decent condition. I'm running out of things to try. I was never going to break the solder or try repair it. I have repaired the wiring as far as I can. Datatek yes, willdo. _______________________________________________________ 2...

Okay so I cut away the footwell connectors last night and soldered them with heat shrink filled with glue. Was very optimistic but whan all was said and done, nothing at all had changed, so became very disheartened. This morning (Thanks for the link @Marshall8hp ) I cracked open the fuse box...

Awesome, thanks guys. I was going to send it off to the auto-electrician today, but, I think I'll try repair those connections first. Cleaning the pins seemed pointless without an effective way to clean the sockets. I had a look at the fuse box in the engine bay last week, and found one...

Yes I think I read that the earth strap is problematic somewhere online. The alt is still making 13.5 volts or thereabouts, it is working. Your process regarding heat shrink and glue sounds like a go-er, appreciate the tip.

I cleaned the three connectors in the drivers foot-well. I did indeed find corrosion. I can clean the pins but I don't really know how to clean the sockets. I think a better job might be to replace the connectors altogether. Seeing this I became very optimistic, alas, it didn't make a...

martyuk cheers bud., thanks for taking the time to write all that. I can talk to the HEVAC, the BECM, the EAS and the transmission ECU. I cannot talk to the airbags or the Engine ECU. On the nanocom I went through every setting and test I could in the BECM section, it all seems to be working...

I have a spare diesel ECU on the red car, I tried it, engine would not start. Put back on the original and it started again. I notice that there is no glow plug light on the dash anymore, its dissappeared.

@tomcat59alan I have a job during the day and work for myself at night, so come the weekend I'm ready for beer. Not today though. Gonna try earthing the engine ecu now. Then Ill try the engine ecu with the nanocom and see if I can reach it ith the key in the second position. Then I think...

Wammers, Datatek, two faces I wanted to see, appreciate your input and thank you Valid suggestion regarding the earth wire, will try that after my coffee. Regarding fuses I went through the drivers seat fuse box and the blade fuses in the engine bay. When it sparked it blew fuse 17 under the...

Nah I made a stand for it and there it sits. I would lose cruise control on the blue one if I swapped it, I think the 2.5 in stock form, working properly, is actually fast enough, its good in traffic. It's nuts on roundabouts, has taken me by surprise, it moves rapidly and its huge.

So I'm after damaging my beautiful car. It's a 2001 year model. It was working and now it's not. Makes me an idiot, read on and I'll tell you why. ...and be kind, I've already called me an idiot, thanks. I've compiled a timeline. I've been trying to fix the 'Select Neutral' message on my...

Greetings all ) I had a red P38 and as I dug into it I realised there was too much work in it, so I spent 3K on a nice one-owner blue one, and the engine is fine on that. I spent about 3K on a compushift, engine, adapter plate and various other things... wiring loom for the M57. So It's all...

hahahahahha yes no catchall solution at all. I tell thee....... This picture says it all really, this is me, lowering the engine onto the stand for the first time. The stand did not have the bracing to the rear at this stage. Not a look of confidence, I would say. I put a lot of heat into...

So I built an engine stand and in the true tradition of the internet, once I had something to show, I went and asked for advice. There is an M57 engine forum on facebook, and they gave me the following list of items to address while I have the engine on a stand. I have these organised into...

Hiya kapilamuni, EAS is still in place, so far as i know this swap will not affect that at all. When I get the stanalone loom Ill be able to run the engine on a stand, so the loom will in effect make the engine run regardless of anythinmg else around it. Some of my posts here will just be to...
