So I built an engine stand and in the true tradition of the internet, once I had something to show, I went and asked for advice.

How do you left-handed people manage?

hahahahahha

yes no catchall solution at all. I tell thee.......

This picture says it all really, this is me, lowering the engine onto the stand for the first time. The stand did not have the bracing to the rear at this stage. Not a look of confidence, I would say.

I put a lot of heat into this last night and had no fear placing the engine on the stand the second time round.

I have a bought stand, and like you I did some mods to it, well, a few cut pieces of wood to fit under the front pulley, and one for when pulley is off,....and one for when it's rotated, and one for.....you get the picture.:D

No, I'm not showing pictures of my wood, before you ask!

Bloody hell you look like Bobby Ball. :D:D

lol yes, I do look like him, its true. I laughed when I watched back the video. Normally I wear video glasses (ivue rincon), but,
when dealing with dodgy stuff, better to have all your senses, so I put the glasses on the bench, hence the footage.

myfirstl322 I'm going to copy you with the pieces of wood, great idea.

Greetings all ) I had a red P38 and as I dug into it I realised there was too much work in it, so I spent 3K on a nice one-owner blue one, and the engine is fine on that. I spent about 3K on a compushift, engine, adapter plate and various other things... wiring loom for the M57.

So It's all still sitting there. I'm going to gut the red one and then take the body off it, so that I'll have better access when making the engine mounts. Then there is the sump as well. I'll get to it someday.
