    Defender door / bonnet security

Understandable - if you check out my thread which is of a similar vein. As much as i would like to buy cool stuff, most of the cash is going on security. Most expensive will be the deadlocks for all 5 doors. I think that is a good effort, having had my last one nicked.

Thanks Simon. Some good advice there. There seems to be some debate as to whether the Medium or large disklok is better 0 what size do you have?

WOW this looks the absolute nuts! My fave colour as well! Really interested in the progress. Particularly which fuel tank you went for! All my cash is going on the boring, but essential security now, but hope to make a few changes that are more fun!

    Tried - but no Cigar

I already have a car insured through Flux, and have used very happily for many years - always been quite competitive, so kudos to you guys. Good service too. However quote for a defender was £1200 with a £2k excess! with 8 years NCB! NUF was £580 - £100 excess. Much more what i was expecting...

    Defender Security

Thanks for the advice - a few bits ordered already! Deadlocks the most expensive by far, but well worth the deterrent i am sure. Sad that it comes to this.

Fab, that is a good point. How do you find storage of it? Is there a clever solution? The appeal of the other one was that it can be stored easily. But efficacy is the main objective! As an aside - can i use the original steering wheel if i have a quick release steering boss?

    Defender Security

Great tips thank you. I was going to go for the bonnet cable protection as well. Just getting quotes for the deadlocks on the doors. I was looking at the 'ardcase pedal lock rather than the Safe-T pedal. would this be ok to prevent the pedals being cut...

Thanks - Could be good for longer term storage. I basically want as much as possible, but no so much i get complacent and don't use it!

    Defender Security

Hi all, Hopefully about to pick up a new defender (to me) nearly 2 years after the last one was stolen. Obviously i am a bit neurotic about the next one going. It is a Puma TDCI, so my preferred pedal lock (the built in drop down one) is not an option. Obviously i have had a look and done...

Discovery - things to look for / avoid

Some really great advice here thanks all. Any comments on the 'milage points' issue, or is it just a case of look hard and hope for the best!?

Discovery - things to look for / avoid

You see this is my major concern - Having had a D3 - i know that electronics are not REMOTELY a strong point. And the defender was pretty simple in this regard. Having spent a fortune keeping a D3 on the road im not keen to do the same. In regard to the V8 - As it is not a daily driver i am...

Discovery - things to look for / avoid

Hi all, I have now accepted that i just can't afford to replace the defender after it was stolen, and having looked at some lovey toyotas i think i am ready to make the terrible and costly decision to stick with land rover - despite having had the 'experience' of D3 and a defender. I have...

shocking - but not surprised. Police too busy to even bother looking into mine. Took finger prints off it, not heard a thing.

no problem - only done a bit myself, but useful experience nonetheless!

would like to tag along to this if possible - house renovations mean i am unlikely to have replaced the stolen defender, but if someone is happy for some company in the passenger seat let me know :)

Yeah i was the same as it was my daily as well - totally standard. I have a machete which was useful for some branches! The ones I did were fairly suitable, but of course it depends when the council last cut them back. With budget restrictions I would imagine something like that is first for the...

No problem, would be good to get out and off roading again. I am not massively experienced, but enjoyed the ones i did around here and got out of a few sticky situations!! I can bring the camera and get some nice shots :) Let me know when you are going out next and i will try and make it.
