For Sale TDi STARTER MOTOR ERR5009

Like I said, about to move house and new item fitted this morning. Am clearing garage and spare starter motor does not figure in my list of things I need to keep. I agree it should be refurbed but I am not in a position to do it myself at the moment.

Two pairs of SGS 6T axles stands (3T per stand), four stands in total. Height range 370mm to 560mm. Defender wind deflectors

"What did you think of the spafax mirror? I have debated fitting some for ages" Not certain about them hence why they have now been on / off a couple of times (currently sitting in bubblewrap in the garage). Generally they are good and slightly bigger than the standard LR heads so if you have...

    Defender wind deflectors

Climair clip into the window channel. Had mine fitted for getting on for 10-years now with no problems. When you first fit them you will find the glass a little reluctant to fully close but the felt soon adapts to the deflector and the window closes fully again. I was worried that they may...

    Dash part number

AWR5988 looks to be the correct number for RHD but his photo is of a LHD which I believe is AWR5987.

Strip down and rebuild into the ultimate Overlander.

"As you can see i have been coating the nuts and bolts with Lucas red sticky grease. I am doing this as a little experiment to see if it will add some protection to them. I might even incorporate a coat on all bolts when i do a oil services." I have always made sure that all fixings are given a...

    challenger wheel questions

As the VBS Encore looks so much like the ZU this made me look into whether the ZU was still available. It is and while more expensive is rated at 1400KG against the 1200KG of the VBS. These are my ZU's (long gone now) showing how the drive-flange is visible. A great tough wheel.

    challenger wheel questions

Challenger wheels are steel but your link is to VBS Encore (which in turn look to be a copy of the ZU and of course the whole lot are Mach5 lookalikes). As above, there is no centre cover and they are designed to show the drive-flange. Over the years I have seen several attempts to cover the...

    Battery drain

My old 2.5NA D had the manual ignition switch and that required 5-10-seconds in mild weather and 15-20 seconds in the winter otherwise you were wasting your time. That said, as long as you pre-heated it then started on the button and ran perfectly (when it failed to catch immediately I...

    No willing mechanics!

How about Richard Hall at Glencoyne Engineering (Banham)? Never experienced him first hand but he certainly writes (LRM) like a decent and honest person and is LR through and through.

    Wheel spacers

"Also is 30mm a good size or would you go wider." Why do you have them fitted (i.e. is it to allow non-standard rims to be fitted)? Do you need them to be wider?

Durite temp. gauge in Disco 200tdi

"@Litch Your dash looks modded e.g. the hex head bolts. Does it pull out from the binnacle or just attached that way? If you want to get to the dials etc do you still have to remove the whole binnacle or does the front pull away? Sorry for the interogation  been working behind mine and it...

Durite temp. gauge in Disco 200tdi

I can tell you that the Durite sender is the same thread as the Defender 300TDi because that is what I am running (and very good it is too). Based on the assumption that 200TDi & 300TDi senders are a different thread then yes, you will need an adaptor.

Replacement gauges- what are people using

As I said, I bought mine off Ebay but it wasn't listed as for a 300TDi or anything like that, it was a generic adaptor and you have to choose the correct threads at each end. Bought it from a place that dealt with specialist parts (kit & classic cars etc). Having had capillary gauges in the past...
