Well, so long as it worked. On my new Defender the "handbrake" is a button that you push. lt works great but what if it doesn't? No chance of "adjustment" or repair with a couple of 1/2" spanners and a cross head screwdriver.

l had an aftermarket handbrake cable on my TD5 and it was crap. lt wasn't smooth and eventually snapped. But it did work. You could remove the prop shaft and see if the hand brake drum is free to rotate.
