Towing - licences after jan 1997

Guys, just a bit of a heads up. Having passed my licence after jan 1997, I have always been under the impression I can only legally tow up to 750kg. I've been looking at doing my B+E training, and it seems the laws changed last year. To bring the UK in line with other eu countries this was...

    300Tdi immobiliser

Could somebody please explain what I might be doing wrong. When stopped in heavy traffic for example, I can turn off the engine, and then when I go to start it up again, it would have immobilised itself. This means me having to take the keys out, lock, unlock, alarm, disarm alarm numerous...

    90 V's 110 For Green Laning?

I think either will be fine for the vast majority of lanes. I've got a 90 but haven't been down any lanes where a 110 would struggle, and I've driven a fair few Go for the 110 of that's what you fancy :)

    Anyone near Dover?

Evening all, I've just moved down to Kent from Hampshire. I'm living in Eythorne, near to Dover and am keen to get out and about exploring the local lanes in my Defender. Anybody in the local area mind a newbie tagging along? Don't fancy going out alone on lanes I haven't got a clue...

What a waste of a lovely looking 110

I appreciate that, but still that is a huge waste of resources. How does crushing a perfectly usable car make any sense? Surely it would be better to export to a country that could put it to good use... I'm just jealous because I want it :D

    Vibrations

Update, changed rear UJs at the weekend and is now a lot smoother. I get the feeling I had two issues. Driving feels a lot smoother and tighter now, but there is a slight vibe around 50mph still, but nowhere near the extent before. The vibrations before could be felt through the steering...

    Vibrations

Cheers Brown, Very thorough response. The prop went back on exactly how it came off. That said, there is no saying it was correct in the first place. The defender has done this since I bought it... I saw the orientation document posted on here a few days ago whilst trawling through...

    Vibrations

How much play is too much play? I'll have to look at the weekend. I have changed a transfer box on a disco before and that was an absolutely nightmare on the driveway - so I'm hoping to not need to do it again! Also I have tried it in low range and it is completely smooth throughout all...

    Vibrations

Evening all, hoping someone can offer me some advice. My 95 defender has got a vibration between about 55-65mph. It feels worse when in 5th gear. I have taken the front prop off and drove around and it seemed a lot better. Yesterday I changed the front UJs, it feels a bit better but...

    Bearmach parts

So I know everybody slates Britpart, but are Bearmach just as bad, or have I been unlucky? My 300tdi has been ticking away and I decided to change the fuel lift pump on advice on here. I paid a couple of extra quid to avoid britparts. I fitted the pump and was surprised to find the ticking...

I've driven one for work every day for the last 6 years. I'ts a 56 plate 1.9cdti. I've done 55000 miles in it carrying near to full load (2900). I really can't fault it, I've grown to really like it, and it drives great. It's the newer facelift shape with 6 speed gear box. It is an Openreach...

2 x BF Goodrich AT 235/70/16 free to collector

I bought 4x used BFgoodrich AT tyres off ebay for the discovery, I got two of them fitted to the car, but the garage were not happy to fit these two. This wasn't a problem as I already had good rear tyres. The tyres have good treat, I'd estimate around 10mm, but there is age cracking between...

    200/300tdi handbrake differences

Evening all, I have fitted a replacement transfer box to my 300tdi disco (What a nightmare job!) and found the handbrake assembly seems to be completely different. Is is possible I have fitted a transfer box from a 200tdi vehicle, would this explain why my current handbrake cable / lever...
