    85 classic indicator stalk

PRC4606. Only used for a short time. Mine (1986 'C' reg) has the same. Problem they have is that the full current for the headlights is routed through the switch. The contacts get hot & melt the plastic of the switch. Because it melts the plastic it's not repairable. Mine did 2 before I went the...

    Steering box fault

Bad refurbs often result in leakage from the bottom seal as the sector shaft hasn't been replaced with a new one (or repaired & reground) & the area the seal seals on is often worn and/or pitted so a new seal doesn't last long. Common issue & also often a reason for people fitting a recon box in...

Classic 1982 Range Rover New Starter and sudden Earthing Issues

The earth strap is still required. If you leave it off then current operating stuff on the engine & gearbox will try & find any route it can which will overload other thinner wires. Used to be a thing with the original Minis which could weld the inner throttle cable to the outer! If the wires...

Classic 1982 Range Rover New Starter and sudden Earthing Issues

I suspect you've connected an earth wire to one of the positive live starter terminals - the wire with that eyelet at the bottom of the wing goes to a bellhousing bolt & is a main engine earth wire.

Range Rover Classic 1990 Air Vents

Lrcat might help https://new.lrcat.com/ Click on the image of the Classics & take it from there. FWIW mine's a 1986 non aircon RHD. The 4 round vents on top of the dash blow hot & cold. The 2 rectangular vents - one each side of the clock - are cold only. No1 in this pic...

Range EFI 3.9 front cover oil seal

Use the wooden block to seat flush. Make a washer out of 1.5mm steel to fit on the outer part of the seal. Place on the seal & use the block of wood to further seat the seal. Remove the block of wood & the washer & it should be OK.

Range EFI 3.9 front cover oil seal

If the seal is damaged fit a new one. Seals against the pulley assembly, not the crankshaft. If there is a groove or other wear on the pulley assembly where the seal seals you have a number of choices. 1. Fit a new pulley - ETC7339 - which are very expensive. Used ones may have the same issue...

    P38 4.0 Infamous 4HP22

Same box on the Classic. The torque converter is not fixed to the gearbox, just pushed on. They can easily slide forward & fall off if you aren't aware of that. Guess how I know! It can be an utter PITA to get back onto the box if it has moved forward & esp if it fell off. It's a big & very...

1987 RRC 3.5 - Rear Upper Tailgate Locked

Vehicle locksmith? Or as you can get at it from inside if you can remove the metal shrouds that cover the operating rods then you can operate them & release the catches. Shrouds are items 29 and the rods are item 23 in the link below. Pull the rods towards the centre of the tailgate. The...

Classic. Unless someone like yrm or Froggatt's do a replacement you're either fabricating it yourself or trying to find a good one on one that's being broken for parts.

Wrapping Not As Easy s It Looks

Will reflect what's under it so no different to paint in that respect. To avoid the little bits of dust that I think have caused the small nibs you can see higher up give the panel a quick light wipe with a tak-rag to remove them.

    AFM

There's a bigger version of that spring that holds it on. Scroll down on this link to the testing device & there's one on the right of the pic. Blow it up - might be difficult on a mobile but no problem on a laptop - & you can see the clip as the silver wire across the top of it...

    River 3.5 v8 no compression in #5

Closer look & the exhaust valve your screwdriver is pointing at has what looks like a semi-circular mark on it. Is this just a mark or is it damaged? Pull both valves & check the seats & valves to ensure they aren't damaged, that they mate properly & that there isn't a build up of carbon on the...

    River 3.5 v8 no compression in #5

Put the plugs back in & with the head upside down (as in your pic) put water or other liquid in the cavity so the valves are covered. Use an airline to blow air into the appropriate leg of the inlet & the exhaust & see if there is a lot of bubbling around the valve. Check the head is flat. This...

    Fuel Pump cleaning tank?

You can polish the fuel, but that isn't going to get deposits out of the tank. That will probably best be done by removing the tank & using a solvent to clean it. Easier with the tank off to slosh it around if you can't get at the inside of the tank to wipe it. Might also want to consider using...

P38A Head Gasket Probably Blown - Advice

Had the box off a couple of times on my V8 automatic classic. First time to do the rear crank seal. The assembled gearbox & transfer box are a big heavy & awkward lump. I made the adapter plate in the workshop manual & fitted to a suitable trolley jack made it easier. The TC will fall off it...

    L322 Does the L322 have a VCU ?
