It's time to say goodbye to my P38 :-(

Oh, and she's just been through an MOT, so has a full 12 months on that... plus 5 months' tax...

It's time to say goodbye to my P38 :-(

After much soul-searching, I've decided it's time to part company with my beloved P38.... :-( Shame really, as I love the damn thing... it's one of the best and most enjoyable vehicles I've ever owned.... but... now that my eldest has started 'big school', I cover a minimum of 60 miles per day...

    Diesel good enough for off-road?

I'm selling my P38 DSE - at a bargain price, too! Has had loads of work done, still has a handful of jobs that need doing. I'll be putting up an ad in For Sale soon...

    2001 hse radio problem

DSP amp knackered, or link between HU and DSP amp disconnected or faulty. Remove HU, and check all plugs at rear of unit - one may have worked loose. Remove and replace plugs a few times and see if that fixes matters. It may all appear correct, and may not fix things, but.... try the simple...

Me Disco's a wee bit rusty...

All painted... Hammerite up the yin-yang, plus a topcoat or two of Halfords truck bed paint... Good grippy stuff. I also temporarily refitted the towbar, and captive-welded the nuts in place on the chassis and towbar itself... Can now remove it in less than 2 mins with one spanner without...

    Chippie Run PARRRRR TAAAAY1

I am now informed, by the old man, that the Pikey wagon (5 berth) that I WAS going to borrow is, in fact, not only fully restored, but also now my property... They are apparently getting 'too old' for all that caravanning ****, and it is now ' mine' if I want it.... yee haw!! Just gotta fix the...

    Where's this water getting in???

Looks like somebody already sealed up the inside of the gutter... It's all smooth in there and there's no evdience of a join or seam where that rusty seam is on the outside...

Me Disco's a wee bit rusty...

New floor is in.... Don't laugh at my welding!! Besides, seam sealant covers a multitude of sins... :D Arches and sills welded up:

    Where's this water getting in???

Ok, plastic tube unblocked... Just needed a squeeze and a bit of encouragement. Think I've found the bit on the gutter Dave was talking about... Right near the corner: Looks like someone already tried to seal it.... With only partial success...

    Where's this water getting in???

One other thing... I presume the large clear plastic tube running just under the alpine light is the sunroof drain? It appears to be retaining water, although not all the way up to the level of the sunroof... And nothing is coming out the other end (presuming again that the 'other end' is the...

    Where's this water getting in???

Cheers Dave! It's not coming in through the sunroof or the Alpine lights, as everything around them is bone dry. I had a quick look in and under the gutter, but didn't notice any plastic trim there?? Do you by any chance have a pic of the exact place you sealed up? Sunroofs and Alpine lights...

    Where's this water getting in???

Ok, trying to trace a leak into the back of my Disco whilst I have it in bits... I've noticed water pooling around the back of the o/s rear arch every time it rains heavily, and today I finally found where it was dripping from: It's dripping off the seam (arrowed in the pic) - but there is NO...

Me Disco's a wee bit rusty...

Update... New floor sides welded in, chassis cleaned off, fertanned and hammerited, and rusted fuel pipes replaced with 8mm copper microbore. So my welding ain't gonna win any awards, but it'll do... Seam sealant covers a multitude, anyhow ;) Next... Weld floor in, clean old seam sealant...

Making Disco 1 towbar 'quick release'?

Bugger... I imagine postage will cost a bloody fortune then... :(

More bits could only be useful! Where are you located?

Making Disco 1 towbar 'quick release'?

I guess I could bolster it against the rear chassis cross-member with some triangular pieces... Could get those by cutting up my old tow bar... Cheers Evil, given me some great ideas there :) Might just delay Hammeriting the rearmost bit of the chassis until I got this figured out now...

Making Disco 1 towbar 'quick release'?

Dumb Q... But, what are those pins actually called? I'm thinking now of maybe welding 2 lengths of box to the underside of the chassis rails, then fabbing the removable piece with 2 lengths of box that fit inside them, and another length cross-ways joining them, that I could weld the plate to...
