    Newbie query about 90 lights

I've seen such switches on industrial instrumentation / control panels ... If you really wanted to, you'd probably find something similar at:- uk.rs-online.com/ Good luck - you'll find their range extensive, so you might be a while ;) Electric fan ? ( cooling ) ... ? RE the Wipac lights -...

All Electric Defender available 2026 (300 mile range). Thoughts?

Judged off the issues "The Fast Lane" on YT have had, I think even scotch locks might struggle to make them worse  ... :D

    RRC MFU

Ha!! Welcome to the club.. :D  o_O Been, there, done that  ... If it won't go into self test mode, then you still have a problem!! ... which might be alarm related ... so worth checking out...:)

    RRC MFU

Your conundrum with the EAS / doors is also pointing to courtesy lights and thus alarm - I assume you have checked all the door switches ? .. As above - easy with diags...:)

    RRC MFU

Agree on this^^ However, internally to the MFU, the logic determines that if the doors are open, then the wiper will not work ... I have fallen foul of this too - I forgot (!) ... So, if your courtesy lights are mucking about, then the MFU might be seeing a door open condition, hence...

    200 tdi

YES! don't let it escape - it could well be going quite quickly! The dent in the bonnet might make an interesting taking point though ..o_O A "noggin" of 4x2 was mentioned in post #18, and #23 - good advice IMO..

    RRC MFU

So, is issue that the MFU isn't grounding the wiper relay when it is "told" to do so ?

    RRC MFU

HTH - sadly I've got the friggin t-shirt with these damn things...    o_O I agree that the MFU controls the earths of the controlled circuits, mostly via relays - I had issues with the HRW circuit during the replacement of the MFU - it transpired that the wiring...

    Steve's unexpected Series 3 rebuild.

More great work there - I really like the attention to detail in evicting the tin worms - deffo the right call IMO :) Nope - appears somewhat hit and miss o_O

    Timing belt should I

Hard question to answer without knowing your abilities really - but not a hard job .. maybe 4/10 ? I do 300's quite regularly - IMO, it's more tedious than difficult.. Lots of info on the glencoyne site:- http://www.glencoyne.co.uk/belt.htm And also on the tube - specifically Britanica...

    RRC MFU

I'll add that I tried several MFU's too, but the issue was that I couldn't get any of them to go into self test mode - or to behave consistently.. Have you had a new alternator recently ? IMO, my problems started with same, and the VR in same being utter sh*te - both the set point and its...

    RRC MFU

Any "new" MFU will be upwards of 24 years old now - so I wouldn't hold your breath.. If you have other variable issues then I'd suggest a good look at the alarm ECU - it contains a couple of relays which are known to fail - courtesy light issues being one of the clues to same.. The alarm can...

What do I do with my Defender ?

Another vote for re-chassis - a proper meccano set like a 90 is, IMHO, a far better bet than anything else.. A re-chassis is going to solve nearly all of the potential problems for quite some time - certainly any rot problems for the forseeable future .. provided the bulkhead is good.. I'm...

    1st Landy Advice

IMO, SII and SIIA are decent vehicles for the use you propose.. Have you driven one ? The diesel is slow, noisy and unrefined.. and not particularly fuel efficient either.. the petrol is quite a bit different, not as noisy, not as slow, and more refined - but nothing like any modern...

    P1103 fault code

AKA:- the Prince of Darkness :D It was explained to me thus - A "car manufacturer" (CM) asks "Lucas" (L) to make a given component... L then give CM a price per unit for the given number of units ... CM says that price is too high - we can only afford 10% of that cost ... to which L says fair...

All Electric Defender available 2026 (300 mile range). Thoughts?

Have you seen the re-designs JCB have done ? Essentially, their existing short block with a new cylinder and such, running on hydrogen, in a full range of their construction equipment ... Quite interesting :)

All Electric Defender available 2026 (300 mile range). Thoughts?

The greenest vehicle is the one already made, so an electric vehicle has no place in my world, ever.. :) And I have looked.. New ATV ... garbage range, and very high price.. New main vehicle - range not too bad, but no towing limit to speak of  Oh yes - and this too..;)

Disco 4 (LR4) Need some quick advice: is this a good buy?

Well, if he took this much care of his expensive vehicle , then what else did he skimp on ?? You can't run a champagne car on lemonade money;) ... or the engine blows up  ... Yep, just like this one!! How much warranty would come with the car ? What are the...
