Hi, looking at 1st Landy, I like the older series 2/2a. Viewing a 1961 2a diesel which is solid a good price at a specialist and has had work done but needs some more so I’ll get them to also go through and make sure all works and is sound and have the necessary done so I know it’s been done properly (Im not mechanically mind but understand I’m going to need to be!.) Question is if diesel engine in that model is ok or to stay away and have a petrol ( In all spending around £10k)I will literally do runs to country pub and local drive. Thanks

Hi and welcome!

If it is the original Diesel engine, the Landy would hold it’s value more if retained. But that is not of importance to you, a two and a quarter petrol engine is a better drive than it’s diesel equivalent. However, a Tdi conversion would be better still. But given the age of the Landy, I’d be inclined to keep it as original. Your Landy, your choice though.

Don’t forget some pics of the new Landy, we like pics…

IMO, SII and SIIA are decent vehicles for the use you propose..

Have you driven one ?

The diesel is slow, noisy and unrefined.. and not particularly fuel efficient either.. the petrol is quite a bit different, not as noisy, not as slow, and more refined - but nothing like any modern sh*tboxtronic thing..
