    Key question

My 1985 LR 90 has 6 keys. I was looking at reducing this. 1 for ignition, that's always going to be the same one 1 for bonnet 1 for RH door 1 for LH door 1 for rear door and 1 for the lock on fuel cap. Now I don't mind the bonnet one or the fuel one, I don't fill up often enough for it to...

    Heater blower

Oh bugger. I had a week of lovely heat, then this morning half way through my journey the blower was not ...well....blowing in the cab. Fan was blowing ok and blowing air through every gap in the heater box but not much through the vents in the cab....my suspicion is the new foam bit I made...

    Weber replacement

Went for the weber replacement in the end, nothing like the smell of a new weber in the morning. Starts much better, little flat spot when the second choke opens, I put that down to the shonky distro someone fitted. The cap is slack and has a bit of play, so that'll be my next replacement...

    Dog ramp stowage

    That is a cool idea.

    Dog ramp stowage

I was considering that, but it'll be a little awkward. Plan is, use ramp to get the old dog in, slam door shut, clamp it to the spare wheel some how. Store it in the back when out on pack walks or forest walks, then all the other times it stays in the back, so it'll only be for the odd trip. I...

    Dog ramp stowage

That is a thought. I may consider that.

    Dog ramp stowage

I’ll tell her that mate, she’ll rip ya crutch out.

    Dog ramp stowage

Don’t have a roof rack and don’t really want one currently. I might try to make a steel sprung bar that clamps it to the tyre, it’s only when I take the dogs somewhere so won’t be stuck there all the time.

    Dog ramp stowage

Got a dog ramp for my ageing dog and wondered if anyone has stored it on the spare tyre on back door. Was about to look at tuley strap it on but thought I’d ask around anyway. I have a 90 and space for 2 big dogs becomes a problem when I keep it inside.

    Steering reservoir leak

yup, I was thinking of trying exactly that. I may even buy the one on ebay for £25, even if it's just the cap that's knackered, it may be worth a try. Quite surprising how motor racing increase the size of the reservoir to reduce over heating. I've heard people say 'why they got such a big...

    Steering reservoir leak

A little dig down in the design of power steering reservoirs and it seems the bigger one was used to reduce fluid overheating. I'm assuming this would be in hot countries, that said, it's a good reason to try and fix the one it has maybe. So now I'm thinking maybe not use the smaller one if I...

    Steering reservoir leak

I'm told they can fit in and will probably do that, but thought I'd look into it first to keep things original, although it's not that important.

    Steering reservoir leak

The seal is good. It's not overfilled, I'm told the fluid washes around a lot when in use therefore it needs a good seal. I'm thinking, because it's been 'buggered', the thread underneath does not hold shape either. If someones used grips on this (it looks that way), then the thin metal will...

    Steering reservoir leak

My 1985 Landrover 90 steering reservoir leaks. This is the old metal type that looks way too big and is bolted to the inside RH of the engine bay. Clearly the lid leaks as fluid is sitting on top inside the outside lip. I'm told by a reliable source that it's normally down to people over...

    Heater blower

An update and closure, thanks to all who replied and explained some things. I took it out the weekend, stripped it and the motor did not turn at all. Checked the resister, that was good. Stripped the motor down to the core, it was a mess, cleaned it, greased it in the right places. Knocked...

    Heater blower

OK, might be worth checking that out first, I can get to that without removing the whole thing, but of course, if I don't see anything it all has to come out. I'm guessing it's a jammed motor but could be the reisister. when I checked it did nothing on level 1 speed, that means the resister...

    Heater blower

That small plate riveted down, what's under that. Is there something I can check there before taking out the whole thing? It might be something simple like a shorted wire.

    Heater blower

One of the jobs I want to quickly do on my recently bought 85' 90 is get the heater blower working. Checked the fuse today, it's blow, fitted a new one, it blew. Checked the wiring going to the heater box in the corner on top of the bulkhead, all the wiring looks good and it does not blow...

    Weber replacement

OK, I'm going to get a barrage of abuse I suspect, anyway, I kinda know what I'm gonna do but thought I'd throw this out there. Issue; My recently purchased 84 Land Rover 90 with it's 2.25, petrol engine (yes it is a 2.25, not the 2.5), has a weber carb ( I believe to be the 34ICH), and it...

    Bonnet sound proofing

That's interesting, may go for that if I can't find the felt. Mine has the rubbers, but the glass is loose.
