    Condensation in Oil filler cap

Hi all, I've noticed some condensation (for want of a more accurate description) in the oil filler cap on my 4.0 Gems. There was a small amount of 'salad cream' in the cap but not a lot (as a former Montego owner I'm aware of what a lot looks like). My coolant level has dropped maybe 1/2"...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Transmission fluid and filter swapped. Engine oil and filter swapped.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Undid 3 screws and swapped my knackered 'E' post exterior trim. At least that's what RAVE said I did. What I actually did was remove the 3 screws, saw the old one into as many pieces as I could get away with, then fought using a stanley knife and a skinny chisel to hack out the remaining pieces...

Yes Data I think that's the difference. Maps works as you said just on GPS only.

I'll be using my phone as a hotspot cos I've unlimited data. You do need a connection (although you can save maps in Google maps) but I don't think you can use turn-by-turn navigation using G maps with saved maps though (seem to think there's a warning of sorts when you save the map).

    Android Tablet

Ah, I see. I had to mount mine with the ports at the other end so I could get the micro USB cable into the port. It wouldn't go without butchering the side of the panel where yours is. The tablet was £43 and there doesn't seem to be any kind of standard where the ports are physically located...

As per picture, Pete said he used aluminium bars. Didn't have any of that so wood sufficed :-)

    Android Tablet

Pretty much. Donor panel from a breaker, cut out cubby hole and fit/shape/fill and paint to fit tablet. 12v socket spliced into cig lighter feed with USB 2A adapter. I reused parts of the cut-offs to tidy up the edges. Only point I would add to watch out for, the bottom edge of the panel...

    Battery flat

HI all, I replaced both my alternator and battery on my P38 4.0 (GEMS) in November last and all has been well since. Last night I replaced the air filter. When I came to start it this morning the battery was flat. I found that I'd left the bonnet only partially closed, not fully latched in...

HEVAC Book - on and off and on again...

....and off again. Hi all, does the book symbol in the HEVAC display self-reset if it thinks a problem has disappeared? Mine has had the book shown since I bought it in October. Recently though I've noticed that it goes off but comes back on. No rhyme nor reason why; I've not done anything...

Sports button and gear selector lights

sold a perfect good v8 grand cherokee to go back to a p38 when they work its a joy when they break you end up bald and broke. I too sold a perfectly good Grand Cherokee, but as I'm already bald and broke, a P38 seemed the ideal way forward

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Replaced driver's door mirror, crankshaft position sensor and exhaust rubber hangers. Sourced new switch panel (above stereo) ready for android tablet install a la pwood999. Tightened lpg connections to stop leaks. Sorted.

    Side step brackets

Hi all, my '96 P38 has previously had side steps fitted. They are now gone but the brackets remain. They are currently in a worse state of decomposition than slag from a roman foundry buried in a salt-rich marsh. Are they bolted on to the chassis or are they a permanent fixing?
