    Defender Chassis Experts Needed

Possibly where the chassis is pushed apart to get the gearbox crossmember in (or out, but unlikely if you’ve seen it on others).

    Some Defender spares......free

Stick it on Facebook Marketplace, get more locals that way. Shame to skip it.

    Windows dropping

New felt channel, or take the channel out and pinch in tighter. Have either the channels or glass been replaced recently?

Newbury 4x4, Land Rover & Vintage Spares Day Sunday 2nd October

No, they weren’t there. There was a guy there that used to have a big parts stand, he himself was a brick sh’thouse dressed in fatigues, but he hasn’t been at Newbury for a couple of years. Shame, as it was a good prompt to do the annual oil & filter change!

Don’t know how I missed that! I remember the green OneTen beside you as it’s nearly the same as my mate’s and we spent a while looking around it, I remember looking at that compressor too. Did you sell a lot?

Newbury 4x4, Land Rover & Vintage Spares Day Sunday 2nd October

I looked out for your van, ended up asking 2 other red VW Transporter owners “are you Zed”? They were a bit confused, I must have come across as a ****e secret agent type. Nothing purchased for the Landy, as she needs a new chassis first, but I got a nice step ladder, 5L of glyphosate, loads of...

Newbury 4x4, Land Rover & Vintage Spares Day Sunday 2nd October

The weather forecast has improved a bit, so I’m off to RustFest. A little game to keep you occupied - try and spot the man with the massive teeth, he’ll be wearing a Suzuki ( or one of the Jap bikes ) jacket. You’ll know him when you see him. And no, it’s not me.

I’ll say hello if I go. Going to see what the weather’s doing in the morning.

@Zed. Looking at the weather forecast for tomorrow, your collection of rusty goods may end up even rustier by the end of the day.

    Vanishing coolant

Get a UV dye and torch kit, makes locating external leaks a doddle. Edit… just noticed Ralph already suggested that ^^

    How bad is this chassis!!???

£4k fitted is a good price, how did it mount up to £8k? How much is an AMC head?

    How bad is this chassis!!???

That’s exactly where my chassis has failed. I’m not even contemplating a repair, when it gets that bad the rot has already set-in internally. Time for a new galvanised chassis.

The fear of food poisoning is all part of the experience. That load leveller looks handy, I didn’t even know that they existed!

    Newbury Sunday 10th April 2022

It was the best I’ve seen for a few years. I wasn’t really after a lot for the Landy as it’s waiting for a chassis change next year. However, I still bought a new, genuine galvanised military front bumper for £50 (£120 normally), some of those silver, padded boxes from the silver padded boxes...

    Ineos Grenadier

I like it, I’d have one if I had the money. Buy British! …oh wait… buy French!

    Newbury Sunday 10th April 2022

Yep, I’ll be there as always. First year not going in the Landy, so we’re in the white van . Nothing particular on the shopping list, I’ll probably stock up on gloves, grinding discs, saw blades etc. Hopefully it will have warmed up by then!

    Worst tool you've ever bought?

Tecumseh went bust, thankfully. Bloody awful engines! Honda every time for me thank you.

    Worst tool you've ever bought?

Rolson or Silverline, by any chance?

    Windscreen Fitting

I used a Britpart seal and got a local fitter to do it. Glad I did, it looked like a right pain! He really pushed the seal and screen to their limits! I left the seal in a bucket of hot water before he arrived. It is doable, but I understand the fitter’s reluctance to do it with a non-genuine part.

    Battery drain

Sounds like a diode has packed in on the alternator. Get it tested with a multimeter, they are repairable, although I’ve never done this myself!
